Suggestion for 60L or above OTG required

I see OTG as a better alternative to these air fryers that are being pushed of late.

A microwave has its place too. In homes that have a regular oven.
As the word itself have micro (small), it should be used for small task :p

I agree with @gourav on the baking point. Combo ovens aren't very well suited for it. These ovens can't handle an hour long cooking and also they don't get hot enough for some recipes where temp needs to be higher than 200. For something like chicken tandoor or pizza it takes twice as long. I use a kitchen thermometer and I have never seen actual temp reaching the number it says on the display.
Not true it depends on the brand.

I usually bake a pizza in 11min without any preheat at 200c, this is with combi mode where the upper heater coil and the rear convection heater coil+fan is On. This is with the 32L LG convection which uses the heater lamps at the top they call it charcol heating.

But in my 27L samsung which has the option of either convection or grill but not both at the same time. It takes 20min plus and still the pizza dough is raw. In samsung it has identical heater coil for grill and convection.

In samsung combi mode, you get 2 options
microwave + top heater
microwave + convection(rear heater+fan)

In Lg you have three options of combi mode
convection(rear coil/fan) + grill (top high temp lamps)
Convection + microwave
Grill(top heater Lamp) + microwave.

Big difference in price between these two, both got the charcoal term

32L charcoal convection (Black)

32L all in one neochef charcoal convection
No idea why the price difference could be just for color or finish.
But damn have the prices gone high, mine was bought via sale in 2011 for just 11k when Ezone exisited, mine was silver color. The ones with flowers design etc was costing like 16k back then. No idea why people by oven/fridges with flower design.

The singer and wonderchef OTG go upto 250C. Rest are stuck at 230C max. Same wattage. Why? Is it better quality heating coils?

The rupee was worth more in 2011 than today.

This makes me wonder whether it will touch 100 to the dollar sometime in the future due to the present crisis

The RBI has been selling dollars to stabilise the rupee. There may come a point when they will just let it float.

Something to think about for those considering upcoming big-ticket purchases ;)

28L for 16k here

No touch panel either

Not bad, only worth if its on a sale, mine though was a 30L version which is bigger, Its marketed now as 32L.
For some reason its 16k if you use her link otherwise its 18k

I like the design. Wish that design was available in 32L. I see only touch panels on the 32L models

OTG is better than Microwave right, we can control temperature and all stuff. As i said, Cakes, Pizza's, Cookies, Tikkas and all will be cooked. in it.
As a chef (ex) I can't live without my oven, I slow roasted some awesome pork ribs today for tomorrow's lunch! If you're making pizzas it's best to get a pizza stone, it'll make a world of difference. For kebabs I use flat skewers which work well for Indian tandoori items as well as my personal favourite from Turkey, beef Adana kebabs, just remember to keep your meat suspended, so as not to touch the tray and you'll be golden.

Please mention what oven you have. It's not been that straightforward me to make tandoor items in my LG and Godrej combi microwave ovens. I think these manufacturers lie about the temperature settings. It takes very long time cook chicken so I can't even think about cooking pork in my ovens. It'd take like half a day.

Lol, I have a built in oven which I brought from the UK in 2008, otg's suck due to the lack of insulation. If you do get a built in oven, buy one with the most basic controls (mechanical) and always set oven or grill first and then use the thermostat to control the load. I've actually changed most parts on the oven and have had to have some fabricated or order from abroad over the past few years. I'll send some pics shortly.

Are there any built in ovens with parts made in India or easily accessible?
Have a Kaff built in oven with a dead heating coil, and the official service centre said the part isn't available, after just 6 years.

No matter what brand it says on the front, all ovens in this world are made by a single Chinese company called Midea.

So the parts are inter compatible. Find a generic replacement for the broken part on AliExpress or Alibaba. @stefanm may know more.

Not all parts are interchangeable, as far as I'm aware there are a few manufacturers in China, most often heating elements are different, as are thermostats (my replacement part is upside down, lol) and selector switches.

A tip to save your selector switch, use it to decide your setting, then use the thermostat, if you need to change a setting set the stat to zero degrees, then change and the same when switching the oven off. Basically you're using the stat to take the load, thus preventing arcing on the selector switch (thermostats are cheap, selectors expensive and/or difficult to source).

Where to get one of those and how to test whether it contains lead or not ?

Why not measure it?

Dunno if it works in a microwave but regular ovens are fine
