free software to reconnect external drives without removing usb plug from pc

On win 10, I connect external hard drives which are used to store video and photos.

I don't access them all the time, so my intention is to connect the USB port to the PC and reconnect whenever needed and then disconnect again without removing from the usb port. My intention is not to use HDD all the time. If it not going to impact the life of HDD then i will leave it.

I did try few but not working for my needs. Any body has any suggestion and i did try the windows device manager method but felt to complicated every time to do that.

Any free software or utility as i could not find it.

You don't need any solution mate.

Windows 7 and later operating systems automatically power down HDDs if you don't use them for more than a few minutes. As soon as you double click on a drive which is located on the HDD, windows spins the respective HDDs again. It's a seamless thing.

Try disabling the USB port from the device manager when your work with the Hard disk done. Re-enable it when you want to connect it again.
