Why does Wikipedia use such a tiny font ?

Are you sure you're not zoomed out? Font seems to be fine for me.
If you feel font is smaller you can zoom in by Ctrl + scroll wheel up. It'll stay that way across sessions.

It's rather better to increase the scaling system wide.

Right click on desktop > Display settings > Under scale and layout, increase 'Change the size of text, apps and other items' option.

Do you know of any other site that uses the same font size as Wikipedia ?

Even with specs it looks okay to me on mobile. Are you reading it on a laptop? On a laptop I've noticed everything is really small and I've had to set default font size to 12 on desktop and browsers.

At default settings, I don't find much difference between the font size here and in Wikipedia.

wow, really weird.

And I stumbled on https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boat_Mail_Express and the font size is better. Wish I could always use en.m.wikipedia .
I'm referring to (computer) monitor usage.

EDIT
According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Typography :
Vector uses the definition of font-size: 0.875em;, which translates to 87.5% of the default fontsize set in a user's browser.

I set the default to 16 in Firefox settings and it's so much better.

Some of us aren't young anymore :)

It's not possible to change font size, right ?
:D I know exactly what you mean. In fact, at 71, I'm probably the oldest TE member!!
Many, if not most, web contents seem to be made by young people for young people. Besides, many people have poor eyesight from a young age.

As others have already suggested, you can increase or decrease the font size with Ctrl+scrollwheel or Ctrl++/- or in your browser settings.

I used to have excellent eyesight when I was younger. Nowadays it depends a lot on whether I've been sleeping well or not. If I've been sleeping for 8 hours a night for a few nights in succession, I have no trouble reading the tiny fonts used by many websites. If not, then everything is blurry and I have to increase the size. This is all without glasses.

What I hate more than a small font size is poor colour theme. Dark grey font on a black background or light grey font on a mid-grey background, etc etc. Ugghh

You guys should try increasing the scale as I suggested before. It's better than increasing font size on every website. I have done same for my parents.

Font size does not increase on every website - only on sites that use CSS similar to Wikipedia.

This is TEF after the change I made:
