Not much computing to do in the old days - microprocessors hadn't been invented yet and programming was for mainframe computers and the like.

I dabbled in programming while attending special classes at IIT, Kanpur. A team of us plotted the course for Armstrong & Co.'s trip to the moon on an IBM 1620. The memory was all of 40 kilobytes which was large in both capacity and physical size - it filled a room! We used punched cards and magnetic reels. :D

Who knows, maybe we'll meet one of these days. I sometimes visit or pass through Kolkata, although I don't travel much these days. I used to shop for electronic parts in Madan St. and Chandni Chowk, Kolkata. Lajpat Rai Market in Delhi and Lamington Road in Bombay/Mumbai, and to a lesser extent in Ritchie St., Chennai. Never been to Bangalore though.

I used to have a regular supplier of computer parts from Old China Bazaar in the 2000's. I spent most of my time assembling computers for my clients during that period. Then it became a bit monotonous and I went back to my first love - electronics.
