Long story,
So my brother has been using poco X3 pro since mid 2021, the phone has give up (less than 2yrs use) recently, local repair shop guy saying charging ic need to be replaced but parts not available in market and service centre wants to replace the motherboard not logical money wise, he's student.

We have been frustrated by this incident.
Have had to repair poco F1 previously but not faced such annoyance.

Now planning to buy new phone, main requirement is should be long lasting hw wise atleast aftermarket spares availablity in case something goes bad.

I know it's open ended question, but I'm biased towards Samsung now, what would be you guys suggestions?

Thanks for reading.

Poco/mi have the best spares Availability in the aftermarket. If that's not good enough for you, i don't think you have better options.

X3 pro is a midrange phone with corresponding prices. 10k for motherboard replacement for a 20-25k phone sounds reasonable. No matter what phone you buy in that segment, prices are going to be in that range.. If you can't afford to pay those, then get something from the budget segment, like redmi 10

I believe then maybe case with small town we're in.
And I do agree on some of your points as I've previously had 2 redmi phones with good support,

will find out in offline market what is selling more as now there are too many different models of basically same phone that probably causes the issues, to an extent it can even be seen in buying case offline.
Why not one plus 10R? You'll get it in the budget during sale time.

Also i have a mint condition Poco F1 for sale if interested.
Won't be feasible to wait for sales.
And not looking to buy poco F1.
Thanks.

X3 pro has a bunch of reported failures - including on this forum. Snapdragon 860 at that price was too good to be true, and looks like it is after all. But I'd say thats an outlier - Moto etc, the service is even more spotty.
If your worry is about service costs - get mi protect - that will cover you for everything.
I have an X4 Pro 5G - has been fine so far (wife has an M3 and that has been reliable too)

the X5 is about to launch. spec wise the 778G should not be too much of a downgrade from the 860. If you want to try another brand, try the realme 9 Speed edition or the moto edge 30 which have the same 778G

Frankly do not care much about processor or specs, will lookout for x5 if that is sub 20k

Probably would help to add some more inputs using the template we have. Most people bought the poco x3 pro because of the ungodly fast processor. Mostly college kids because it gave excellent gaming performance. If that's not what you're looking for, then need more details

if this is all you need (and you can compromise on 5G) , no need to spend 30k. Redmi 10 power is more than you need. 6000mah battery and a 6nm snapdragon processor that doesnt sip much power. My Poco M3 with a 6000mah battery and the older gen SD 662 running pixel experience runs for 2-4 days with a few hours of teams calls usage as my work phone. Costs 12.5K, 8K for new mobo, 3.3K for new screen and 800 for battery as per their spares price list.

If 5G is a must have, then look at the Samsung Galaxy F23. great screen, great processor.

Moto Edge 30 surely seems good spec-wise, so are Nothing Phone 1 & Pixel 6a, but all of them are not top manufacturers, which are Samsung, Xiaomi & BBK (oppo, vivo, realme, iqoo & OP). So if something goes wrong, again there's a risk of lack of parts. Just saying.

IMO Samsung phones recently are just overpriced or not worth buying or both. Competition is not much + Samsung has great software support. Samsung A53 would have been called just overpriced by me if it had Dimensity 900 instead of Exynos, but with exynos, its hard to recommend for me.

Still, my recommendations will be Moto Edge 30, Nothing Phone 1 or Pixel 6a. Latter 2 has much lower number of service centres as well.

Pixels have atrocious battery life. Plus parts availability in the aftermarket is practically non existent. I just had to junk a pixel 4a and a 3 recently for the exact same reason as op (damaged usb port fried the charging chip and got estimates almost close to current value of phone) and switched to two Xiaomi phones

I'll stay away from nothing, pixel.

Not atrocious from any angle. Surely it is lower than those with mid-range chips & 5000mah battery. I know people who have it, it is a one-day battery life, nothing more. With heavy usage, you will need charging at evening/night. For its size, its decent. S22 has an even smaller battery to put things into perspective. Sadly one of the rare compact phones.
