Budget 21-30k What on earth is an ASUS Eeebook.

oh no are you talking about the EEEEEEEEE PEEE SEEEE (Yeah thats a dankpods reference)
The lineup is very, very old. It is a "Netbook" which has the bare minimum power to run a browser. The newer ones come with celeron, and retain simliar sentiment.

My friend owned one of these and never stopped complaining about its performance. They were small and speced really poorly. He used it for browsing the web along with the Tata Photon+ dongle.

Ah, good ol' nostalgia. Your post reminds me the time circa 2009 when the market was flooded with netbooks. This was before the launch of the iPad 1st Gen in 2010, which was responsible for effectively killing the netbook market. Sadly, the Asus Eeebook was one of them.

These netbooks were really great during that time, since they were light, portable, and can do basic tasks on the go. They usually came with 2GB RAM which was more than enough for running Windows XP/7. Also, their price was stellar, as most of them hovered around the 20K INR range.

During that time, usual laptops used to cost over 40-50K INR, so the netbooks were a welcome change. And some netbooks (such as the MSI Wind) could even run Mac OS X Leopard/Snow Leopard. So, they were definitely a value for money proposition.

Ancient memories...Had one. A quick search in my email and this came up.

Bought an Asus EEEbook back in the day, it had a 10" screen and was great for portability.
Main usage was for document/email, and it was useless for most other things. It came with Windows XP, and 2GB was OKish.
Everyone's used to great battery life now, but the EEEbooks offered a great removable battery and portability before Chromebooks were around (and had a full specced OS).
The processor wasn't beefy enough to run anything else. If I recall, mine had a N270 processor.
