Android Issue: Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 Stuck At Asus Logo

Well, if fastboot or recovery mode is inaccessible then you can't do anything.
Asus service center won't do anything (most probably) except quote you for a full motherboard replacement which BTW is a waste of money.

If you want you can try your luck else just buy a new device.

No. Its locked. I havent even tried to root it or unlocked the bootloader. Its in factory state.
this makes it rather tricky. Do you have adb access at all? if so you could consider unlocking the bootloader now but beware this will lead to total loss of data on the device storage.

If you do not have adb access also, then I'm afraid authorized service center seems like the only option.

No I tried the fastboot mode with power + up volume keys. It goes into the fastboot mode but the command "adb devices" doesn't show anything. Oh am I using an incorrect command?

I like the device because it has replaceable battery. But why is the motherboard replacement a waste of money? Because it's expensive or that it fails?
Can anyone suggest a third party repair shop in Mumbai?

It will be around 60-70% of the cost of the phone.

adb != fastboot

You're doing it wrong!
The command is "fastboot devices". In that case a simple fastboot flash of stock ROM should fix the issue.

I will try the fastboot command. Let's hope it works.

I can see my device in fastboot mode. Now what should I do? I dont have the original rom file.

How do I select the correct ROM file from https://www.asus.com/in/mobile/phon...k_bios/?model2Name=Zenfone-Max-Pro-M2-ZB630KL

Ensure that the appropriate drivers are installed otherwise the device may go undetected in fastboot mode. There's a bunch of comprehensive guides on xda developers readily available for your device. I'm not sure of the rules here on linking external sites so I'll leave that aside for now. But if you find yourself really lost, you could ping me here.

Good luck!

First go to xda . Then search and install minimal adb drivers from there . Then proceed to check if fastboot devices command is showing your phone... then follow xda guide .

Got it.
However these YouTube videos all direct to 3rd party sites with no classification of ROMs. It's difficult to select the correct rom. Any idea which room.can I download from the Asus support site?

Since your bootloader is not unlocked you wouldn't be able to flash any of the custom roms. So yes, ideally, grab the exact version of the ROM currently installed on your device or whichever is available from Asus and flash it via fastboot.

Yes but how do I check that? The phone is not working.

Unlocking the bootloader will actually require you to toggle OEM Unlock first from developer options if it is the same as other devices, so you won't be able to flash custom ROMs.

Since you have fastboot access, you can try the official images.

I have no idea what the above contains since I am on a mobile device, but if it does not contain fastboot images, you might be able to find it on XDA.

Yes I checked that page. It contains a mashup of a lot of images with no clear indication of the release hierarchy of the roms. They have mixed Russian, Japanese, Indian & worldwide roms there like a tossed salad.
I am hoping that someone who has actually done this process can tell me exactly which file to use. Otherwise I am likely going to brick my phone. I will be grateful if you could have a look at the list from a laptop & let me know.
I think that these are fastboot images since the filenames on this page & what I have seen being used on the videos I have linked are similar.

If it's an Indian unit and you never installed the official Android 10 beta before, then use the latest Android 9 Worldwide/Indian image.
ASUS Max Pro (M2) Software Image Version: WW-16.2017.2010.101 For WW/IN SKU only*, exclude JP SKU
This is the version I used when reverting to stock from the Android 13 Pixel Experience ROM on this phone.

Yes its an Indian unit. I had OTA upgraded the phone to the latest available version. I think that wasnt a beta image. I would have remembered. I dont think I was even offered a beta image to upgrade to.

Also how did you install this? Just clicked some batch file in the downloaded ROM file like in the videos on youtube I linked? Or used some software? I cant find an authoritative guide to flashing the original roms onto the phone even on xda.

Curious. Why did you revert from Pixel Experience?
