Wifi mesh queries

My friend is moving into a ~3000 sq feet, 4 bedroom apartment. He has installed a 300 mbps Airtel connection that comes with a router. The challenge is that it does a very poor job of providing a good connection in other rooms and a simple extender fails miserablt too. He needs advice. Do you think a mesh will be a good solution. He cant make any changes or drills in the flat as it is a rented flat. if a mesh will be good then which is the cheapest thing which will work.
 
Yeah he has tried all of that already. Has also tried placing the extender/repeater at various locations. So its now time for the mesh. Does anyone have experience with meshes
 
Tp-link Deco, Netgear Orbi, Google Mesh, Linksys, Asus all of them provide decent mesh wifi system as per your budget.

Also check if you can configure your ISP provided router in bridge mode, if that's possible you can avoid dual nat.
