Are you using esim?

Just wondering how many are using esim in their mobiles? Does the physical sim deactivate or can we use Esim in one phone and physical sim in another phone at same time?

With Airtel, the physical sim gets deactivated. You can use either the esim or the physical one, not both.

I don't remember the deal about Jio. I have the physical sim in a phone, and the esim in my smartwatch. Whether this is possible with two different phones, I have no idea.

I am using esim for Jio. The physical SIM gets disabled and only esim is available. BTW, I am using it with Pixel 4a and works just fine.

eSIM users, can you comment on how much of a pain is it to transfer your eSIM when purchasing a new phone or incase you factory reset your phone without the keep esim option checked.

the secondary esim (watch apple/ samsung) is the only way to have two active devices on the same number. You cannot have two phones with the same mobile number (either the number stays active on physical / esim).

Airtel eSIM change process is fairly simple - send an sms to 121 with your email ID & within 30 mins approx you have the esim QR code. You are free to scan the QR code on any of your next eSIM phone.

Jio eSIM is a bit of a pain comparitively - you need to digitally have the carrier JIO (load the eSIM) tied to the specific device with IMEI & EID (SMS to be sent), then they send a eSIM no. on SMS, follow some 1 or 2 more steps & it will be activated whose IMEI & EID. Once you initiate the process, you cannot scan any QR or decide midway that you want to choose to load to a different device.

What happens if the phone is stolen?
Just like your physical sim, you need to deactivate it by calling your operator & later issue a replacement physical/esim from their store.
One benefit on eSIM would be your phone stays connected to the internet / data connection & there is no way for the person who stole to remove or deactivate your internet connection without knowing your passcode. More so for iOS the phone would register the last known location everytime its turned on & the sim is still active.

could be done from the control centre on lock screen but you can disable that too in settings..

Have an Airtel Esim and a Jio physical sim, Since that's how iPhones support dual sim. Do note that when I activated airtel esim, My messages were blocked for 24 hours and I didn't get any OTPs or anything. It was kind of a pain but I understand the security aspect of it.

Have been using Jio esim for last 11 months.
Have been facing call drops but those are mostly Jio itself and might not be due to esim.
Also planning to switch secondary sim from BSNL to Airtel and will try converting Jio to physical and use Airtel to esim.
Device is Pixel 6A

I've heard uptil now that only those users who are having postpaid connection can opt for eSIM. Is it possible to get eSIM on a prepaid plan specifically asking for Vi Operator.
