Hitachi vs Daikin

Exactly now days it all boils down to the customer service in your area. Also avoide inverter ACs especially from daikin as they have a super high pcb breakdown problem basically if you don't have a servo in your house (mostly don't) any fluctuations in the voltage have increased chances of blowing out the pcb. Source is my friend is a authorised daikin and Mitsubishi channel partner.

Hope this helps.
If fridges and washing machines can handle fluctuations and not require a stabiliser then this problem should not be happening with ACs.

If it still does then these models are not fit for Indian conditions or designed to work here.
Single phase usually supplies up to 5KW in some places and 7.5KW in other. 1.5 ton inverter AC usually takes 1.5KW when running under a full load. So you are fine as long as the wiring is good.
As low as that? thought it might be closer to 2kW or more. They all have 16A plugs, isn't it?

You are thinking about 1 or 2 star AC. A 5 star 1.5 ton inverter AC can be as low as 1.3KW under full load.

Now, as with all things containing electric motors, you have a big fat capacitor which is needed to crank/start spinning the motor. And that capacitor causes a huge spikes (above 2KW) for a few milliseconds. On an inverter AC, the spike will take place only once during the cold start (because motor speed varies with the requirements and it doesn't need to fully stop). Non-inverter AC motor can't vary the speed. So it works intermittently. And that causes those spikes once in every few minutes. It's why you still need 16A or 32A plugs.

If fridges and washing machines can handle fluctuations and not require a stabiliser then this problem should not be happening with ACs.

You should visit Goa. The voltage there can vary wildly between 100 and 400 24x7. Nothing can survive without a stabilizer. Forget Goa, even for me, sitting in my cozy metro city experienced high voltage (after 2 decades). It blew 2 bulbs. Gotta get myself a safeline or something.

Placed order for Daikin FTKR50U. Variable speed compressor, 1.5ton, Alexa integration, 46k inr. Guy was ready to do installation now itself but asked to come tomorrow as I have to get the new wiring done.

How is LG dual inverter?
They are offering Rs4500 discount if you pay with credit card and you have the option of paying in 6-9 months EMI with no interest charge.
Total is around Rs40k after the discount.
I have selected this model:
They are also offering 4 years of extended warranty for 9k which includes gas refilling and servicing twice every year.

My native is Vijayawada and the climate here bloody hot and humid. People here vouch for Daikin, Hitachi, O General etc as they work so much better compared to LGs and other brands. For places like Bengaluru where load is lot lower, any brand will do.

Can I have my own AC service person to install the new AC? I always have problem with these company installation guys as they install the AC without doing the vacuum procedure. They seldom bring the vacuum pump and argue that it is not necessary to use vacuum for a new AC. Also their installation is very shabby. Since it is a paid installation can I have my own service person install the AC or will this affect or void the warranty?

Let company people setup and leave. Then you go ahead with proper procedure.

I've got two 1½ Ton Daikin ACs with Inverter. I don't know what the installation charges are for other brands but for me it was around Rs.10000 for both the ACs (technicians sent by Daikin). Did I get ripped off over here? We were in a hurry to install and get them running. Core cutting chargers were seperate. :wideyed:

I'd suggest Bluestar/Voltas - carrier - Hitachi - Daikin. I've done quite a few offices and Daikin brand value is going down.
Isn’t this due to cost cutting measures and also has to do with commissions? My office replaced CCD machines with filter coffee machines. This does not mean coffee made from freshly ground beans is inferior to poor filter coffee machines. One of the reasons why we now pay 10/- to vendor to get proper coffee.

Possible to cater to the more economical segment of Indian market. I work in commercial construction projects like offices luxurious apartments and stuff from clients side. Even our PMC is against Daikin and it's overall build quality. It used to be great ~5 years ago. An ac is a very complex machine and you ideally the lifetime of ac's is ~8~10 years and therefore build quality is essential.

Maybe in residential projects you can get away with Daikin but not in large scale. This is just my personal view on the experiences I've had and my pmc's

What? 8 to 10 years of the ideal lifetime of an ac?

Anyhow, I'm having the same confusion, whether Daikin is superior to Hitachi. Most say yes, others say no. I would like to go for Mitsubishi heavy as well, but their cost is outside my comfort zone, and also i am told their service is not good in my area. General is good, but i guess they will also ask premium similar to Mitsubishi. I wish good models were available in 35k to 40k range.
Btw, do they make any inverter window models? The split units are way too quiet. They won't be able to drown out the everlasting screeching of the sexually demented birds cuckoos in my area. Window is better.

PS: We have 2 window units in our house, one Hitachi from around 2010, other Carrier, from 2003. Not one of them ever needed anything more than a 10 minute cleaning. Never needed regassing. But obviously that power draw. So you see I get shocked when someone says 8 to 10 year is the ideal lifetime of AC

10k only for installation of two a/cs. it too much. i never heard this much charges.

The lifetime I mentioned is keeping the commercial segment in mind. Usually 8~10 years and sometimes ~12-15 then we'd get totally new units installed as power efficiency and less hassle comes into play.

Residential you can expect ~15-20 years.

Mitsubishi heavy is top notch if you can push and go. Rest for residential you cn go ahead with Daikin if very comfortable with it.
