:laughing: So true! But this phone is a gem, doc. May not have the best camera, but with a nice (albeit not up to date) custom rom, it hums along fine even now. With PE11, it doesn't heat up much after I played GTA SA with a type-c controller for a couple of hours. Battery easily lasts for 1.5 days (can stretch to 2 days, but I top up once a day and charge till 80%) and it's built well. One of my best daily drivers till date.

I have the 8/256gb armored edition, my kid broke its default screen, I replaced it thinking will exchange it in upcoming sale. Spent 2k on replacement but the screen was too fragile and its developed cracks with small drop. Yesterday my kid again dropped the phone and now the screen is separated from the phone.

Any suggestions for good screen to replace? With screen replacement the exchange does not seem to be benefitting.

Oh. On PE 12 and 13 it's unlimited backup at original quality. I guess, PE11 is simulating pixel 5. It gets unlimited storage at storage saver quality.

I recently took a takeout backup of my google photos. There are 400GB worth of photos and video in my google account (stored for free of course). I'm currently on PE13 and battery life is very crap. UI is also crap. I was thinking upgrading to PE11. Let's see.

And importantly, it's easy to repair. I just replaced display at home.

I replaced screen with the exact same thought. I'll exchange it during diwali sale. I don't have any suggest for a good screen. But I can suggest you not to buy one from maxbhi.

F1 was a really superb device. I just ordered the 'on-paper spiritual successor' F5 that launched on FK today. Let's see how this one fares as my first POCO.

For Custom Roms : Battery life on Android 13 has been relatively worse across many devices on custom ROM. I've recently downgraded back to A11 and on my OnePlus5 and SoT has been again close to 6hrs+ compared to barely 5 on A13. I use crDroid ROM and it has been fantastic with SoT and also super cool customization most of which I don't need/use. My device too get's unlimited storage on google photos.

That is why I use the greenify app with its magisk module.

You can get unlimited backup on photos with magisk module called pixelify, as long as i know it works on all aosp roms, but a11+ roms

Yes it is old stock.
Check the reviews, many buyers ended up with brand new phone with dead battery.
You can get a brand new battery for 1500rs, but spending 13k for poco f1 in 2023 is not worth.

you can get refurbished ones for 7500rs.
 
Am I the only one with a bad experience with poco f1? I bought it in 2018 a couple months after it launched. The emmc chip got corrupted around 2.5 years later, got it chip level serviced for 2k and my mom was using it until a month ago until the battery died. Got a cheap 450rs battery, replaced it and sold on cashify for 4.2k.

My gf also bought the same phone in early jan 2019, emmc chip died by the end of 2022. Now the repair costs 3k upwards which isn't worth it.
 
@imad7x I think when you sell a million pieces, few percentage of them will develop a problem. Know 3 people holding POCO F1 and still running strong after 5 years. I am also an ex POCO F1 user.

It is a bit of a lottery. Xiaomi cuts cost by not having stringent QC and purchasing lesser binned parts which are may be 10-15% cheaper than what Samsung purchases. In most cases it may work fine, but someone will end up getting the part that wouldn't otherwise pass stringent QC.

Now, it seems the major problem is with the motherboard. You will find a small percentage of reviews for every Xiaomi phone mentioning motherboard issues and apparently for the cheaper phones, they have now exempted the motherboard from warranty. This is also the case with the F5 now, so it will continue to be a lottery except the odds are now worse because Xiaomi is cutting even more corners.

so motherboard issues are not covered in warranty on f5 and other cheap devices?
 

As per the experience in the above video, Xiaomi does replace the motherboard under extended warranty. However, the MB failed twice within 2 years and will probably fail again. Also the ridiculousness of asking the customer to not update the phone because it renders the MB useless. So unless you are a Poco fan boy for whatever reason, it doesn't make sense to waste time with the brand.

I wasn't aware of the motherboard issues associated with these phones until they were brought up here. I wonder what the ratio is of people experiencing these issues. Considering POCO's price range and target market, they must have a significant annual sales volume. Perhaps a few isolated issues are being highlighted too much? My brother still has his Xiaomi Mi3, which he purchased during the first sale in India (2014???), and it is still working fine.

Honestly the motherboard issues have all cropped up in the past couple of years. Xiaomi seems to have completely dumped quality control to cut costs and they probably recycle the motherboards with fixes for the repairs now due to which even replacement boards keep failing.

In a way you get what you pay for with Xiaomi now and it is indeed a gamble.

Is there any evidence to support this claim? If a company were consistently plagued by such a significant issue, it would likely face dire consequences and struggle to survive in a competitive market with plenty of alternatives. POCO sold 6 million devices in 2022. TE have many users owning POCO devices. But I have seen people here complaining more about Pixels than POCO.

I respectfully disagree. Price is not the sole determining factor. I have a friend who recently purchased a Pixel 7a and is experiencing issues such as overheating and a slow fingerprint sensor. Another friend who owns an S21 FE 5g is facing problems with WiFi and data speed throttling. On the other hand, my mom's affordable POCO device maintains proper connectivity consistently. Thus, it's evident that issues can occur across different price ranges and brands.
