Pixel 7a launching on May 11th

Yeah i don't believe they will do 35k. 39999 is what I'm guessing. Just that they need to offer good exchange value for old Pixel devices and I'm golden :) Or maybe better to wait till BBD

I was planning to get a pixel device for development purpose. now i am more confused on what to buy :banghead:

In US, 7a is launching at $499 compared to $449 for 6a. 6a was 44k at launch. Can't really expect 7a to be cheaper. It will be around the current discounted price for 7, just with better launch offers.

The only expected difference to the 7 is the 6.1 inch screen compared to 6.3, so wouldn't really expect it to launch cheaper than a discounted 7.

Want to get a new phone (my poco f1 is in its dying breath), was thinking of getting the pixel 7 during the pixel 7a launch (hopefully sale)

The Pixel 6a will be sold for ₹25,999/- (including bank offers) at Big Saving Days on Flipkart. Right now it's being sold for ₹27,999/-
I believe these will be the last few remaining units to be sold before they discontinue the Pixel 6a. Great phone for the price. It's almost 50% off from its original sale price of ₹43,999.
The 7a will be, i believe a competitor to Nothing Phone (2) and the Samsung Galaxy A54. The A54 is priced at ₹41,000.

Google confirmed that they will keep producing and selling the 6a at a lower price because 7a will be priced higher. If anything, the 6a is still overpriced. May be they will only reduce the notional MRP after the 7a launch but I suppose the best offer will only really become available during Diwali.

I hope it's wrong, but I guess not. 25 gms heavier is insane. Only reason i never bothered with the standard 7 was its brick like weight and now the 7a might be similar! Wtf

PS: This video confirms it will be 193 gms. OMG. I was waiting for this phone since last year!

There are rumors that this will be last cheap pixel phone. There won't be an 8a.
From $349 for 4a, to $499 for 7a, the A-series has stopped being a budget phone. The 7 is being sold for $350 directly in the Google Store for the last few months, so the 7a makes no sense. The worrying part is that Google has less ad money to spend now on other projects, so they really need to rationalise the product roadmap.

Unlocked models?
It is $350 with carrier activation at the time of purchase, without having to purchase a plan. Since they include nearly all carriers, it means you just need to choose your carrier at purchase for the eSIM and select a plan later.

Otherwise, without carrier activation, it is sold at $450, still less than the 7a. It is irritating that the prices in India are so inflated, probably on account of the Flipkart exclusivity that surely Walmart is paying for.
Refurb 6 units are there in olx and online for 23-25k. I'd take my chances with those!
Since 6 was not launched in India, it is basically a US refurbished unit. I purchased a Pixel 3 that way. eSIM is disabled, physical SIM is unlocked for all carriers and the bootloader is permanently locked. Although it may vary, I think most of the cheap refurb units are basically the carrier unlocked ones, rather than the ones sold unlocked.

I feel so old to remember the beef between amazon and google. Amazon was the one who started it. It sold its own android devices without any google services like play store. Google felt bad so it did something that i don't remember. Amazon didn't like that so it blocked google devices from amazon. Google didn't like that so it blocked youtube on fire devices....

Hence, Flipkart has been a default choice for Google devices from last 300 years.

True, coming from 4a i wanted my next pixel to be compact and light :(

now if the pricing of 7a and discounted 7 does not differ much, it will be very much confusing for the buyers
