Laptops Asus G14 Battery DOA. Asus QCC standards questionable.

Last month my brother got his ROG G14 bought directly from Asus India (Online). The packaging was adequate to protect main laptop box. Great presentation and unboxing experience but after that the experience went sour.

First of all Asus decided to provide a plug that connects AC power outlet (16A sockets). This might be a non-issue for some but my brother is in a hostel so he has no outlets. The laptop should have some amount of charge in it but this was completely dead. With no AC power outlet, he resorted to use his friends mobile charger and charge via USB type C. The laptop was working as intended but later he realized the battery was stuck at zero. We thought the mobile charger lacked power so it was sort of running without a battery. Another red flag was that the battery LED was blinking orange. Went to the BIOS and saw no signs of battery being charged. Sent an RMA request and a Tweet for extra measures.

Asus got back quickly but courier service was terribly slow. After the Asus technician opened the laptop, he found the battery was simply not connected! This kind of oversight is not expected from a premium device. With this experience I feel QCC is just an after thought for manufacturers.

Yes we have sent out a tweet regarding this. Got a reply from them the same day.

Rare occurrence actually. You should have asked for a brand new replacement unit from the reseller rather than applying it for RMA since it was dead on arrival

Bought it directly from Asus Official Website. They said if they found any fault in the hardware, would send a replacement rather than fix it. Since the battery was not connected, a replacement was not necessary.
