Logitech partners with iFixit

Let those sons of b****es solve the double clicking issue at the factory levels first
Scroll wheel and double clicking are the major pain points for Logitech mouse, esp after warranty is done. Everything else afaik is fine
Pained rant of a double clicking G604 owner

Let's not make this another Logitech double click issue thread.
Oops, already too late !
I think that is exactly the topic of this thread. :p

Logitech makes shitty switches, collaborates with iFixit to provide tools and replacement parts, we replace our double clicking switches, rinse and repeat.

See. I too have used innumerable Logitech mice (not G series) and have not faced this issue.
It's all in the hands that rock or caress the mice !
i think its more model specific than anything else.
for ex every g102 owner i know, compalins about double click.

No, its much less to do with the user when there are so many people reporting QC issues.

From within the G series, I've owned 102, 203, 402, 304, 604, 502 and now 502X. All of them (except the G502X, which is new) have been RMA'd 2 times, with the 402 at 3 times. Within an average span of 2 years each. I game once in 3-4 months and work in CAD, and take great care of my devices. Even then these just randomly fail. If you got a good unit, consider yourselves lucky!

Its like these devices are built to die soon- they have such amazing customer care (replacing the mouse no questions asked, each time)- so I'm led to think that the time bomb is part of the strategy.

I've also owned MX Master 2S and Triathlon for much shorter periods- sold them due to their pathetic sensors so I don't know how well they fare when it comes to potential double clicking issues.

OP, sorry to stray so far from the thread!

i dont thing g402 has that issue or maybe its not that common. i have used g402 since last 5-6 yrs and one of my friend is also using the same .
never faced the infamous double click.

Again, consider yourselves having scored a good unit! In my case, only one of them had double click problems. Two were mainly plagued with loose connection issues.

A cousin has g402 which he has been using since 2014 ish. And he's a very rough user as well.

I have a g402 which developed double clicks right after the warranty. It was such a great mouse till it worked well. What to do with all these defunct mouse? Garbage?

All the popular mouse brands seem unreliable honestly. For some people model xxx never had a problem whereas for someone else they had to constantly rma it.
For one friend, their g402 still works even after it fell into a pool (I don't know how it got there next to a pool in the first place lol) while for someone else he had to replace it within a few months due to scroll wheel issue etc.

I had a razer deathadder essential and replaced that due to scroll wheel issue and now bought a razer viper mini and apparently even this one has scroll wheel issues after a few months and if it doesn't then never.

Funniest part is how my shitty redgear a20 still works like crap. It was crap when I bought it and it still works like crap. Atleast it's consistent at being crap unlike these 2k+ mouses we buy lmao.

I had a generic acer mouse bought in 2009 which worked so well for 10 years. I upgraded to an Asus ROG TUF and in less than 3 years I noticed double click issues. Now I open it up once every 6 months and pour some isopropyl alcohol on the clicking mechanism and it works like new again.

They don't make the switch but they source it from Omron China. Those are unreliable meanwhile Omron Japan is better and doesn't exhibit that issue.
They switched to the Chinese switches on purpose because they cost like 20-25 cents. The Chinese ones have poor tolerances and Logitech even uses them at the incorrect voltage. The Japanese ones of course cost a lot more but we are still talking about less than a couple of $ per switch.

The fact that the Logitech management felt they could make the mouse more disposable and reduce warranty costs because their brand name is synonymous with peripherals, just tells you how much they care about the customer.

Logitech switched to Chinese switches in the latter half of the last decade. It coincides with the reducing the warranty from 2-3 years to 1 year when they realised how bad the Chinese switches are. Instead of going back to better quality switches, they realised that they can sell more units by reducing the warranty because apparently many users still have a high opinion of the brand based on those initial reviews.

Nitpicking, TUF is the budget brand compared to ROG. Asus mice are great with user-replacable switches but the scroll wheel is rubbish. I have given up having to apply isopropyl alcohol every 2 weeks for it to work now.
