Android Xiaomi! Avoid this company like plague

Bought the xiaomi 13 pro on 4th may 2023 for 72k, a lot of friends and family advised against buying such a premium device from this Chinese company but just fell in love with camera.

The device has stopped charging in less than 39 days of use. 1% in one hour is what I saw with hypercharger connected. I chsged my electrical ports. Restarted phone, used a different 33w mi charger. But to no avail.

Installed those battery apps and saw device charging at 500mA and 1-1.5w.

Took phone to service center and this is pure cheating. They won't accept device for service without hypercharger. They didn't have it to check at the center while displaying one for sale. The audacity of the people there, I told them I'm travelling for business and I don't have the 120w charged and that they can connect any mi charger and see the ampere app for statistics.

They refused, I asked to give me in writing that device won't be accepted without charger but they won't give in writing also.

Fought with non existent lame brain MI service call center... Who even employs these retards who don't even understand the "T" of technology.

Kept staring the same to bring the charger to service center else they won't accept. Even spoke to Supervisor they were even more technologically illiterate.

Please help me what should I do. This is unbelievable the hassles I have to go through after buying such an expensive device. I even tweeted to xiaomi India sometime back.

If anyone can assist I'll be ever grateful.

Go with the charger. Maybe they know there's some issue with their charger and phone and they won't tell customers. Maybe their charger killed the phone port or something. Give everything back and take a new phone since it's just 39 days old.

I am using MI 11t pro and i charge with all types of chargers. No issues faced

Take a charger with you and get it done. I suspect an issue with the motherboard.

Does Xiaomi actually replace phones with new ones? Their limited warranty has exemptions for damage due to improper use and it is very convenient to hide under that and not acknowledge it is a hardware issue.

Why am I thinking that this will end up in 40k+ charges saying motherboard change is required and that there is physical/liquid damage. On one side, we have premium brands that only need your device serial number to honor warranty and on the other hand, we have these brands that need everything including proof that you are human. :D

Any particular reason you are willing to do all this but don't want to take the charger to the service centre? It's a charging issue, it's normal that they want you to bring the charger.

Remember that it's not in the company's interest to give a replacement. So they'll try every tactic to refuse repair. Don't give them more reasons unnecessarily. Just take the charger with you.

Device is still under warranty so 40k is out of question

Can you finish a full discharge and charge cycle to see if that fixes. Also, did the phone come with Android 13 out of the box?

Have you tried a factory reset? Sometimes, a software bug can also cause this as it may think that trickle charging is need of the hour.

So, do full discharge. Let it charge to full. Factory reset and see if that fixes the issue.

Is the wireless charger working? If that also doesn't work, could be an issue with motherboard.
Haven't been able to check this yet as I don't use one
Why don’t you just go with the charger when ever you have time .
Dude I'm travelling for business, I don't have the 120w hypercharge on me.

There has been no physical or water damage for sure. I don't have adp so I've kept it dearly.

I'm worried about not getting the charge back up again. No matter what charger I try and charge it with... Thr charging current is only 320 to 500 ma which like 0.5amps
Plus this in unbelievable... Buying such a high end device and facing such problems. I can't fathom for thr life in me if I have to chase customer supports like that. And the entire collage and friends of mine are mocking now as I choose this over an apple device which adds fuel to the fire.

Utter disgrace of quality and support from xiaomi.

Basic logic...when someone has a budget of 70-80k why even bother going MI/Vivo/oppo etc. way? These brands are only good for up to sub 30k category.
There are good premium brand phone options in that budget esp. Apple and Samsung.

Secondly, always do your homework with anything you wish to buy rather than rushing on those ongoing deals and offers, this is exactly what the cos. want and people easily fall for.

Lastly, even if MI is lame, they are rightfully correct to ask you for the original charger as their charger might work good but yours might be having some issue.

No need to panic here as you have the bill etc. and very well under warranty. Don't know which city/town/village you belong to but if one service center sucks nobody is stopping you from reaching out to another but walk-in casually without making any noise as if it's just a casual issue and you are a complete noob! And never ever tell them you already tried this and that service center and they denied you..

It's worth trying a different cable if you haven't already. Sometimes a bad cable can prevent fast charging from working properly.

Also, cleaning the port could help. I had a similar issue with a power bank. It held charge well but only trickle charged regardless of the device or cable used. It was fixed after cleaning the port with a brush and 99% Isopropyl alcohol.

High end does not mean trouble free. On the contrary it might even have more points of failure. You could experience issues with even iPhones. It's just a matter of luck.

Try the steps above, if it does not help, make another visit to the service center with the charger or try another one (Sometimes it's just the people at a particular center that give us a bad experience). Be polite and don't get angry. It will only make things more frustrating for you.
And the entire collage and friends of mine are mocking now as I choose this over an apple device which adds fuel to the fire.
Ignore them really. Nothing more to say.

It will anyway drain if you use it. So, why not try.

Thats trickle charging. It could very well be software issue.

You purchased that phone for your use, not to make your friends feel better. All you have to think of is whether it was a good phone or not. Even iPhones fail. Yes, Mi service is pathetic but nothing is stopping you from trying few things from your side. Also, see if you can take it to a different service center.

Mi is a cheap phone company with wafer thin margins. Their support will obviously say no before saying yes. Keep trying. In the future, stick to Sammys and Apples.

I'm using a single MI phone since 4 years and use custom rom. And have faced this slow charging issues 100s of times.
I tried various fast chargers but to no avail and realized its a simple software issue and now I fix it on my own.

If you have any compatible devices in your vicinity try to charge those devices with the MI charger and see how it performs. It will be clear if its the charger or your phone. I think it might be a simple software issues or charging socket issue. This issues also persists when user roughly handles the port during charging/unplugging.
Whatever the case may be you might get a mobo replacement or the port replaced and if you are able to reach out and convince the higher authorities then even a device replacement cannot be ruled out.

Maybe off-topic, but dealing with such issues would be much simpler if the representatives would just be reasonable and explain. I don't exactly know what they said, or whether you asked for the reason at all, but I'm almost certain that the response would've been some copy-pasted, typical one of their many templates for apologetic reaction.

Sometimes, a software bug can also cause this as it may think that trickle charging is need of the hour.

I suspect this as well. Maybe skip the full discharge since you are concerned.

Also, did you mean to say 4th March 2023 or perhaps less than 25 days of use? Not that it matters; just checking as it doesn't add up.

Also check for lint in the USB cable port of the phone . Some times that can prevent it from charging correctly due to bad contacts . Try cleaning it with a dry tooth brush .
Just my 2 cents . Cheers !
