Got a PS5. now what?

I have only gamed on a PC but was recently gifted a PS5 (disc version). I am shocked by the prices of the PS5 games. I need suggestions regarding a few things:
1. Which games should I buy? For a start, I would prefer games that are easier to get into (Like fighting or sports games).
2. Do games get Steam-like discounts?
3. Should I buy PS4 games since they are more affordable? I have a 4K TV, but I don't have a problem if the game can run. Is compatibility a big issue? PS4 games are affordable even on PSN.
4. I have got just one controller. A newer one will cost 6K. Does it get cheaper on sales?
5. There is a used Playstation game market here in Chandigarh, but mostly PS4 games will be available. Can I buy those, or will compatibility be an issue?

Thank you in advance.

1. Get a PS+ extra subscription for a month or three and enjoy access to top-tier PS games to start with. Quite a few excellent games in there and worth every penny especially if you are new to PS ecosystem. Also I said a month or three since very shortly there will be sale in which you can buy 1 year sub for as low as 2999 (or even lesser if there's some offer)
2. Yes, games keep on getting discount. You can track them on psprice dot com. Make use of it, wishlist your games and buy when in discount.
3. Yes you can play a lot of PS4 games but I would strongly recommend to get PS+ Extra subs for all your needs
4. You can expect the price of controllers to be in the same range although they can be grabbed at approx 4800 on Amazon/FK as well as you can pick from FS forum here on te as well
5. No issues with compatibility with PS4 (although it's mentioned that "a few" games might not work as required but I haven't come across any such game in last few years)

If you have a CEX shop in town then you can also trade in / purchase and sell games and is generally cheaper than online prices.

Thanks @Channu . I will heed your advice and get a PSN subscription for 1-3 months. I will also see if I can get some disc games locally. Won't be buying any digital games as of now.

We do have a used game market here in Chandigarh and I will surely pick some games that I would like to own.

Can I also get some solid game suggestions?

Not in any particular order

Uncharted Series (most of them are available on PS+, the initial 3 games may not be available unless in deluxe tier(not recommended to buy) but then you can buy their disc for as low as Rs 500)
Returnal (PS+)
Demons's Soul (PS+)
Ghost of Tsushima(PS+)
Resident evil 2,3,4
Dead Space
God of War series
Spiderman & Spider man Miles Morales (MM is on PS+)
RDR 2
Death Stranding (PS+)

Also you get a bouquet of some 20-25 PS4 games when you subscribe for PS+ on a PS5 but that offer was to be revoked some time recently. Do check if it's still available and if yes then, just claim all the games before expiry of offer and they will be yours to keep.

Are these games playable even when the PSN+ subscription expires?

I am also not sure but this offer is going to end this month i think. So you have only today to get the 20 games or so for completely free .

edit- just checked it seems it may have gone

just check though. this maybe old news and the offer may still be there.

Got these for a total of Rs 2300/- locally. Will buy the rest digitally.

Get PS Plus Extra (Deluxe is a waste of money).
Buy pre-owned PS4 discs for games not available on PS+. It is way cheaper than buying new discs. Check out Gameloot for some deals (especially during sales) or various trade forums (be careful of the scammers though).
Stay away from OLX for game discs. I don't know what the users there are smoking but pre-owned discs are costlier than new ones (sometimes).

I think if you guys are okay with usa psn plus account. ..there are sales going on usually and you can grab 1 year plan for just about 2.5k or so.

Keep checking slickdeals.com

Does that work in India?
The website is legit, I've ordered 2 games so far from this. But do your due diligence for this PS Plus sub, basically ask how will this work, will it be linked to your own account etc.
Can't figure out which tier is that offering.

Can't figure out which tier is that offering.
you cannot download games from Indian psn or get sales discount from Indian shop.
but you can play with Indian friends or from anywhere.

You will be stuck with USA psn plus though but you will save some good money and they often have great sales for psn plus yearly plans specially during black Friday.
