Budget 71-90K Need a laptop for college.

So I am going to college and need a laptop for programming. I already have a small form factor PC which I am planning to take with me. I plan on using the laptop as a display for it whenever I am in my hostel using cable connection or parsec. I don't need it to be performant in gaming so was wondering if there were any laptops which are good for work purposes and are a bit cheaper due to less powerful GPUs on them.

Prefer a slim and flexible body/removable display.

Budget ? What S/W and OS do you want to run ?
The convertibles / foldables / models with detachable screens would be relatively costly unless you are looking at a Chromebook or a tablet.

upto 90k, and foldables and detachable screens are just preferences.

I will run IDEs on it mostly so I don't need anything too fancy. Just something which won't stutter when I use it. I will use linux on it, does the distro matter? 16 GB of ram is preferable or the ability to upgrade ram.

either you can go for a macbook air (m1/m2) or you can go for dgpu less / intel iris XE laptops.
so your options would be
  • macbook air m1/m2
  • Asus vivobook Oled ( 16gb , 120hz model )
  • ideapad slim 3

If you have a budget of 90k I highly recommend a Mac Air m1 or m2
M2 should be around 1L with student discount and HDFC bank offers.

I graduated last year and used a 2015 mac air and it was great for everything I needed, im sure the latest ones will do even better.

On the downside it won’t support your need of detachable screen or gaming, but Macs are great computers for a dev

ooh the vivobook looks nice, the battery life on the macbook is tempting as well.
Take a look at Lenovo Yoga 6 like this Gen 8 or this HP x360. There are multiple variants in both Yoga and x360 series. Feel like this is what you're looking for.

alright. These look nice, looks like i gotta either get a high refresh rate screen or a flexible one. Can't get both

Didn't consider display earlier. If that's a concern forget the x360, as it cheaps out on display. If you are sure you really need a flexible laptop, you can find Zenbook Flip with 90Hz OLED or Flow X13 with120Hz IPS. If not,

this is the best option yet.
Zenbook flip seems to be the best option considering my needs. Thanks for the suggestions!
