Continuously rising medicines cost-- Why ?

Generics or branded, it all depends how a body responds to them and this will obviously differ from person to person.
If someone since childhood is very much used to to branded then generic may or may not work on them.
I believe generics were bought for the Bpl people and the ones falling in lower income group as a affordability against costly brands, same contents but might be a little less effective. Where a branded tab does the job in 2 doses generic might take 4 or 6.

Even in branded the brand which I'm consuming works well against any new brand doctors suggest or it causes some side-effects as well not always though and might be less effective or literally zero-effectiveness too is something I have exp. So I stick to a particular brand which suits me.

There is zero scientific rationale to the mumbo jumbo above. There are accepted range of BA between batches, but a tablet of Paracetamol 500 mg is 500 mg. Shouldn't matter on the manufacturer as long as QC is followed.
Some brands work better than others since they likely carry the right API at the right amount.
The most visible examples are antibiotics like Clarithromycin. I've used it a ton, and the impact Claribid has on patients cannot be had by any other brand - to the extent that I have to force them to purchase this one brand since it works the way it is expected (particularly in serious cases).
API is API. In an ideal world, shouldn't depend on brand.
And childhood branded vs generic makes no sense. Your body does not know if the drug is made by Sun or Cipla. As long as you get the API in the right quantity, it works.
Science, not pseudoscience please.

I have already highlighted not all medicines suits everyone. I have tried few generics and never worked so had to resort to the same brand which I usually consume and it worked well.
Same has been exp. by few members.
And its a science even a kid knows but not all sciences works wonders for every body.

You said "generics or branded, it depends on how body responds to them". Nope, API is API.
As long as both have the same API, they will have equal response.

Is seems the conclusion is - cheap generics are not guaranteed to be reliable. Is the inverse true? Can the most expensive option for the same salt composition be always reliable?

Edit - typo

Price doesn't show quality. Price shows how effective the marketing is for a particular drug in local markets. Many a times you will find cheaper drugs by foreign MNCs than ones from Mankind or Sun or Glenmark etc.

Just yesterday I walked in my regular pharmacist to buy few medicines and since a month the shop has those generic medicine banners and boards put all over claiming 70% discount etc.
He said generic have same contents but takes longer period and doses to show effects compared to regular medicines.
People complained as well with regards to the impact of generic medicine though not for every disease. It costed hem time and money and many prefer to stick to the regular medicine they were taking earlier.

What rubbish is this lol. Especially the first 2 lines.
Generic or Branded. They are supposed to be exact same formula and effect.

Branded are costly cause they have marketing and research muscle behind them. Generics make non-patented stuff.
Only difference between Generic and branded stuff is supposed to be price.

So if you are prescribed X drug, if branded one doesnt work, generic shouldnt either.
If Y drug works it should be working for both.

So a particular drug might or might not work for you. Same drug from 2 diff company and one doesnt work then the company is shady.

--------------------

Only in India will you find non working drugs being sold. Its insane that govt doesnt have 1 body to just regularly sample the most popular generics, atleast ones being sold from their outlets?I personally stick to brands reccomended by the doc. And if its prohibhitively expensive, then I shift to a brand thats adjacenet by still big. For example one med costs 35 per tablet. Alternative from Sun pharma costed 18rs per tablet. So picked that. Even though I have been told even Sun pharma is not that great. But atleast its better than a no namebrand.

State FDAs are supposed to regulate and check the drugs. They are abysmally underfunded. Like crazy underfunded. I was reading an analysis that a single FDA person might need years before they complete a single inspection of the required factories in their states.
There's a purpose they are underfunded though. And you know it.

Bro, how does this even compute ? Please apply some basic science

Looks like some active voices on social media are getting involved and their experiences are similar.
TBH who doesnt like the idea of cheaper meds. But these need some sort of certification and on-going testing.

Branded are costly cause they have marketing and research muscle behind them.
Sometimes, brands pay commission to doctors for prescribing their meds. It's a big cartel. These meds are called commission-wali goli by the other medical stores.

This is how it works,
There always is a small medical store next to a specialist doctor.
This doctor has a deal with some pharma company. And this pharma company keeps its stuff at the medial store.
The doctor always prescribe the drug made by this company and you can get that drug in the next door medical only. You won't find it elsewhere.
In return the company pays commission to the doctor or gives him a foreign trip.

Now, if you could be a smartass and chose not to pay for this commission-wala med by buying it somewhere else or from some other brand. To counteract these smart people, pharma companies pull another trick. They create a variation of their drug which you won't find in the portfolio in any other company. So effectively there's no direct alternative available. For example, you always find calcium table paired with Vit D. And there are buzzilian companies making this combo. Where's the money in that? In this scenario, a pharma company could include a harmless component like vit K with this combo and make its composition unique. So even if your smartass wants to buy this composition from somewhere else and from the brand you like, you can't. Only some super-smartass knows that he didn't need Vit K so he can go in the market to find plain calcium + vit D combos.

Though Nimesulide + Paracetamol banned by FDA/GOVT/Authorities, same composition available openly every where including Jan Aushadhi Stores. Even general physicians prescribing same as fist line of treatment for body pain etc. (3 dose per day for 2 days = Rs.200/- fees with medicine) and I found that 99% time all pain went off with these dose.

While at same time if I went to some Specialist of Bone/Fracture, then that Specialist prescribes (Rs.400/- consultation & prescription ONLY, you have to buy medicine from any Medical Shops) some BIG SIZE Tablets that have Upper Card Box Packing etc. but I found that Nimesulide + Paracetamol works effectively compare to that costly/fancy tablets.

Yeah. It's a big issue. If you go to a doctor who worries more about drug commissions then the patients, time to get a better doctor.

There's a reason why Nimesulide is banned. There are many cases of liver and cardiac failure post it's ingestion, specially like a churan ki goli in India.
You can get safer pain killers with same effect. Listen to your doctor. He/she has spent at least 8-10 years in med school so that you don't have to. Unless they prescribe Nimesulide. Then change your doctor.

  1. Can you suggest any alternative to Nimesulide?
  2. Do you mean I need to change doctor as he is prescribing nimesulide (3 tablets a day and for 2 days only, not more than that)
finding good doctor in my near by area is hurricane task, just few week before local authorities catch 7 bogus doctors (no degree still was practicing)
