I need laptop processor of 3rd gen, i5 or i7?
There are PGA sockets as well. I have a laptop from HP having FCPGA988 socket supports CPU swapping. BTW this is the exact socket for 3rd gen laptop motherboard the OP must have.most laptop processors are BGA socket - how do you plan to take only the processor?

chipset is HM76. right now running processor is i3 2330M.Can you pls post a sample pic of this type of laptop processor?
Actually, I have Intel i7 2600 processor that might be a laptop processor which I used in my Desktop setup, but I am not sure.
Whenever I see the device, Microsoft Account shows it as a Laptop!
I also have a Intel i5 3470S processor.
But I think its a fully Desktop processor.
Well then, that's new to me. So it seems like there are multiple sockets for the same generation of CPUs in laptops (at least from intel). I have an HM75 board with FCPGA988 socket running i3-3110M right now.socket is 988B rPGA.
