Android Lava Agni 2 Wifi Disconnections with TP-Link Deco 5 Mesh

Hello All,

I am not sure if this should be in the Mobile forum or the Networking forum. I have a weird situation. From Day 1, my Lava Agni 2 gets disconnected from the wifi network of TP-Link Deco 5 Mesh. There is no particular pattern but it keeps happening every 1 or 2 minutes for a couple of seconds. Due to this, my calls get disconnected as the VoWIFI fails. The same is the issue with WhatsApp calls too. I am not able to make any calls using this wifi network for more than a few seconds. There are times when my call got disconnected more than 7 seven times during a 3-minute call.

The weird thing is that when I connect my Lava Agni 2 to any other router (example: the Airtel Xtreme router) the wifi connection does not drop. This happens only when connected to the TP-Link Deco M5 wifi which is connected to the Airtel xStream broadband router. The other phones and devices in the house that are connected to the TP-Link Deco M5 do not have this wifi dropping issue. The issue is only with the combination of Lava Agni 2 and TP-Link Deco M5.

My Lava Agini 2 has the latest software update and the Deco M5 is also updated to the latest firmware.

Can anybody give me some pointers as to what can be done to resolve the issue?

Is there any software I can install on my phone to monitor and log the wifi disconnections?

Thanks,
Srikanth

your cellphones antennae design could not be well optimized .cheaper phones cut corner over here.

since antennae design isn't adequate it might not be sustaining the signal .Asus routers do have a a threshold point that if clients signal strength is above lets say -65 db router would drop it ( user configurable) . idk about tplink similarly if you could increase the power limit if its possible on your tp-link.

second . phenomenon known (assumption made is you are using your airtel router wifi as well as tplink), as sticky client your cellphone builds affinity to weak signal jumps to airtel router or a other base station assuming it could work through it and fails than jumping back to tplink and again jumping to airtel//other base station. Ideally clearing the cache on base station as well as client could solve it.

band steering setting .Your doubt of 2.4 to 5ghz toggle would be dependent on what setting you have configured on cellphone . may be always choose 5ghz over 2 .4 that to could cause constant toggling .Logs on the router could help to identify this behavior.

Thanks for the detailed reply. Much to my chagrin, I found that even the direct Airtel router wifi connection has dropped on my Lava Agni 2 phone. The wifi connection was fine for over an hour and then it dropped and reconnected. With they mesh router it happens every 1 or 2 minutes. I think the issue is with the phone but Lava support tells me I am the only one who has reported this issue.

I have even tried doing a factory reset and a fresh install of all apps instead of migrating from an older phone.

posting here just if you got any clue from ...

1] My JioFi keep disconnect WiFi Connection in 10 seconds to 1 minutes or some time even in short duration, if connect JioFi directly to PC USB Port.
2] Than start connection Jiofi with default power adopter and WiFi disconnection issue solved.

Some time it even fail in above No.2 case also, but then, the blame is on Jio Network only. Some time I found Network bar in mobile but no network in WiFi, but in such case NO Internet, either from Mobile or from JioFi
