Car & Bike Used car under 3 lakhs, too much confusion, need inputs

Hi,
I am looking for a used card under 3 laks for one of my relative who lives in a village near sangli. I am from new bombay.

After visiting a lot of places i have come down to following:

1. Etios dec 2013, 60k kms 2nd owner. Seq cng fitted in 2022. Only thing i noticed was gear shifting was not smooth it might need some fixing. I had to try twice to switch gears sometimes from 3rs to second and while doing 1st to second.

2. Tiago xt 2017.second owner 37k kms. Serviced only in tata as claimed.
All things looked fine. But there was this vibration sensations coming from back side door. Dont know if thats tata build quality. Orher than that it had this basic engine vibrattion which is known in tiago.

3. Xcent 2014. 1st owner 60k. 3yrs old cng kit.
The steering didnt centered sometimes. It was getting stable at odd 10 degrees left or right sometimes. Is that tyre alignment issue or what dont know. Car was smooth.
Check engine light is ON. But that is because of cng, or now the cng fittings dont show engine light? This is a mjor concern of engine light.

4. Celeriox 2018 cng - will be checking this weekend.


Didnt get good cars from spinny cars24. They were overpriced. From top only xcent is on prk and sell model others are direct. Yet to be shown to inspection.
Need low maintenance, GOOD MILEAGE car.

My advice would be to go for the latest model; from the above list I would shortlist Celerio/Tiago and would pick Tiago just for the better safety rating among the two.
Avoid after-market fitted CNG/LPG, shortlist them only if they're factory fitted.

All the cars quoted above are of 1.2L engines, so you'll mostly get +-1 mileage difference in city driving conditions.

I have first hand experience in buying and selling from Spinny. I have my family members use Spinny based on my suggestions. So, I would suggest you to avoid OLX kind of sites and look for Spinny/Cars24 just for their 5 Days returns.

Yes, I have already visited spinny. Their service is good, they are doing good job. But due to tight budget there is a difference of around 50k-1lakh in spinny vs olx/direct owners market.

50k-1L is a huge difference for a 3L budget. I understand. If it was 20-30k difference, I would've advised you to go ahead with Spinny.
Be vigilant while buying from Olx/Direct owners market. Not everyone is genuine to tell you the car's history. Pls consult and take help from a local/known mechanic while checking the vehicles.
 
Get the car PDI done by independent service providers. Also as said don't go for modified CNG vehicles.
From the choices you listed I'd go with Tiago but only after inspection done by 3rd party.

For second-hand vehicles, I would say you'd need to be some kind of tinkerer/diy-er because it's very likely the previous owner ignored some aspect of maintenance. If you're not interested/eager about doing maintence/repairs yourself, or hiring a mechanic then you'll need to pay some premium for a dealer/reseller warranty or service plan. I have cousins who buy older, larger vehicles and have government-approved CNG/LPG conversions done to them. They seem to be happy. But they're more hands-on type people — they change their own fluids, replace engine belts by themselves, etc.

With that in mind, the best advice is to buy the newest model that's within your budget.

Otherwise, if the option exists for you, pay for an independent inspection.

Sloppy maintenance, fixable, but probably better to avoid — you have no idea for how many kilometers it was left that way.

Easy fix at a body shop. Unlike in a Swift where the floor vibrates when the horn is used, that's poor build quality.

Sloppy alignment, also an easy fix.
 
Suzuki and Hyundai will be the best options in terms of cheap maintenance, also in case of something big goes wrong.
 
checked the celerio. Looked good and genuine. Was vibratin on 1st gear like a old wagonr cng. But that guy has a car loan of 6 lakhs on him. This is what i have never heard of. He was showing me message and what not. He said he will clear his loan if i am ready to buy the car.

Things are getting just too confusing for me. Have a honda amaze 2014 and dzire 2012 cng to check today.

Forget the Celerio and stay away.

Honestly, you're just confusing yourself. As others have mentioned, avoid cars with non-OEM CNG kits. Get an independent mechanic, get the Tiago checked and if everything checks out, buy that. It's an extremely safe car (in its class), as well
 
Hyundai maintainence is NOT cheap.
I have a 2017 etios that i picked up for 5.4 in 2022 with just 18k km. Have spent only 20k in 3 years. The thing is damn reliable - nothing breaks. Only complaint is that the 1.2 engine is underpowered. The pre facelift models are not so refined, but the reliability should be there.

My indica costs 20k typically for a single service. I would not recommend a used Tata car unless you know a good Tata specialist mechanic

Have a look at tyre condition. Usually old tyres(4 years plus based on date code) are better changed asap (20k expense)

Honda make quality cars but their parts are not available in the open market, their dealerships are hit or miss, and even they may not be able to source some parts.

Personally if you're new to cars, i would suggest getting something certified from a maruti true value or a Toyota u trust

This is not my first car. Its a fourth car I am buying, and it will not be at my home but for my relative at his hometown. First car for them but they have fair amount of driving experience.

I have cut off celerio like you all said because of loan thing.
Have cut off amaze because of parts availability issues i have seen mentioned by people in teambhp as well.
That etios earlier looked like a good option but its a 1.5 liter engine and mileage is less, So dropping it off.

I am doing a final inspection of tiago and there is a xcent cng with 1 yr old cng which i am thinking of visiting.
