A stand is technically not required. I don't have one.
Either they forgot or Sammy doesn't do them which surprises me.
Just to be clear the bottom of your machine is completely open?
@lockhrt999 @dafreaking do you remember a rat trap being installed on the bottom when you got your Sammy?

I thought so. But wife insists on having one, so that cleaning the washing machine's bottom area would be easier. But I guess this only works in theory.
Also, our drain pipe setup is somewhat messy which leaks some water back on the floor, so just to prevent the washing machine from coming in contact with drain water, we use the stand.
The stand started rusting slightly now.
I will recheck tomorrow and will share a pic.

I have both(kinda). I have LG at one house, IFB at another). Btw IFB collaborated with Bosch/Siemens in the past so if IFB's good, then chances are Bosch will also be good.
For LG, I also have good experience. It's just that LG has DD attached to the drum, so it has more power which can make the machine vobble. If they can tune the power delivery, it's equally good. Mine is 2021 model, so dunno if they resolved this in later series.
For IFB, given it's belt driven so functions are comparatively less than LG. But you'll need to check with Bosch by visiting the showroom.
At the end, it all boils down to how's their ASS later on, say, 5-20 years down the line. Most work good till 5 years. The ones who stick with you without burning a hole in your wallet should be your deciding factor.

Is this the new norm for WMs nowadays? Beyond 5 years it'll start causing problems? Ours is a 2007 ifb elite 5kg model and has had 2 services to this day. I need to purchase a good (upgraded) model in the coming sale, so asking genuinely.

Depends on how well you maintain and take care of it.
Simple rules could be like-
1. Avoid cheapo ones. They're cheap for a reason.
2. Make sure to use standard detergent and not mixing TL for FL powder, or unknown brands.
3. Do a regular cleaning on a monthly basis or earlier depending on how often you use it.
4. If you are getting IFB again, they promise 10 years of spares availability, so you should be good. Anything above 15 years is like a bonus in today's world where manufacturers want you to purchase machines as early as possible to maximise profits.

Replacing bearings on an LG
^Watch the play of the drum past the first minute mark. That's the sign of bearings COMPLETELY gone. I thought the spider was gone too but no as you will see later it was as in good shape but the motor was totally wrecked
^Second part
It is important to STOP using the machine especially if it's an LG if you suspect the bearings are gone. You will know because it will make a constant noise when spinning.
Otherwise the misalignment will wreck the motor meaning a much more expensive repair than just bearings. There is no motor warranty applicable if bearings go first.
A 15 yr old LG that was otherwise looked after. The tub is pretty clean. Water quality must be decent as there is no apparent scaling. The spider shows no sign of damage. Just didn't get the bearings looked at in time

The one that got me was machine is nosy when running. You think bearings. Noo, the counterweight came loose and was banging around. Total write off
Good jugaad using epoxy to seal a punctured tub. Major repair bill averted there.
