Please suggest a good drone that is available on Amazon at the two price points. The drone market seems littered with unknown names and models and none have reviews that I could find.

Unless you are sure what model and how well that works do not buy from Amazon .
Visit drone shops in your city, you will definitely find one (it will be cost effective and good after sales service )

Rs 2k drone-5k? What is the purpose?
No offence but it might be complete waste of money.

Go read these 2k drones review ...not even single review says it's worth it .

If you just want to buy for a child as toy . Then maybe it makes sense as you can't give them expensive toy to play with.

But for even single adult using purpose like take pics or flying seriously .

Just go for DJI cheapest drone. They are fantastic and much reliable investment.

Btw check Drocon Bugs 3( with gps drone)
Post in thread 'Drocon Bugs 3 Drone Brand new' https://techenclave.com/threads/drocon-bugs-3-drone-brand-new.199886/post-2296590

I had used it few years ago and it was really good and reliable for the price.

My variant wasn't gps so everything has to be done manually like keeping the drone stable in air but they came with gps model . Which was better.

I am sure there maybe better models available now. So look for something like this for your price point.

Warning : these cheap drones makes so much noise ki even I could not bear it forget about people or animals near by.

It's almost like thousands of flies making that buzz sounds together.

So your padosi or even your family might find the noise very irritating.

would love to buy DJI, but afaik they dont sell in India, do you import the drone?

You will easily find hundreds of shops in camera market in your city selling DJI drones.

Like in Kolkata...metro gali is full of camera lines and they have all kind of DJI drones to sell.

In Delhi also if I am correct there is a camera place in Chandhi Chawk area where they sell easily.

Plus online also you will find many eshops offering DJI drones to sell( but do buy from reputed eshop)

Best is just go in person and test it there and buy it .
They will open the box in front of you only

Some tips do check battery life ( how many times used) when purchasing.

Yes they are imports but they are not fakes.

They get it from UAE and Thailand and all and sell here at higher prices.

Someplaces only add Rs 4k-5k on top of USA or UAE price so not really expensive.

Plus they test in front of you.

Taking away the risk of importing from abroad.
Btw IZI is an Indian company that use to distribute DJI drones here but the. They went on to make their own.
Their drones have good reviews but the price is on higher side .

@solo_wing, not wanting to create a fresh thread but what is the cheapest beginner drone or quadcopter would you suggest that meets the following requirements -
1. At least 1080p cam
2. Easy to carry (in flights) without falling foul of authorities
3. Quick and easy to assemble/disassemble
4. Mobile app and gps
And do all need to go through the rigmarole of Digital Sky registration or is there any category exempt ?

Definitely DJI Neo. Meets every requirement you want.
1) camera at 4k.
2) very light only 135gms. Can pass as children's toy.
3)no assembling and all needed. Foldable.
4)both and will never require sky registration.
As it falls way below 250gms.

It is perfect beginners drone and even for someone for quick serious shooting.

Absolutely amazing.
But mind you it's not design for strong winds as it will become unstable . Still some reviewers say for such a light drone it can still manage decently in winds too.

Also price is fantastic $199 but fly more combo is on higher side$499.

DJI Avata 2 is another fantastic drone very solid for both beginner and professional users and more robust with very packed features. But it will cost $999 so not for someone looking for budget drone.

I have my eyes on DJI Neo .
Might grab it if I travel abroad .

What is the difference ? Controller ? Can I use it without the stuff in the combo ?
Let me read up a few reviews on it.
Yes.
Combo gives you controller( you can use your mobile app as controller) , extra batteries, fast charger for all batteries.
In long run combo helps but if can manage to buy extra battery separately . Should be enough to go on.

Check many reviews it helps.
But dc rain maker is good too.

Edit: @ibose I must point out using controller is much better experience in handling drones then apps.
It is quite doable with mobile though just will take time to get use to it

The purpose was as a gift to a 14 year old. Thanks for your inputs. Does not make sense then, will find something else to gift.

why not gift an rc helicopter or something instead of a drone? dunno about others, but I would have loved a proper RC helicopter with proper balance and weights for stable flight and not not those cheapo RC toys which won't survive after 10 minutes

RC Copters will also have the same problem as the drones. In fact when I think of it, I gave up on the RC cars after buying 2-3 cheap ones and them breaking down under a couple of months. Got a nice (and relatively expensive) DEERC monster truck for $100 through someone from amazon .com and it has lasted for years. Has a top speed of 40 (or maybe 60) kmph and is fun for both kids and adults alike.

yes. Good thinking.
instead buying him something in sports gear from decathlon if he is into sports.
Will go for an Ayerton Senna Lego set. Looks like a nice collectible with 700 pieces and a cute motivational message.

this is what I am saying, your budget for a drone is way too little but a proper rc helicopter can be easily had for this budget.

the cheaper rc toys break because well, they are cheap and it's even more egregious for a flying type RC, because the weight of the materials used isn't enough for a stable flight, that's why they go haywire everywhere when you try to fly them, you need proper balancing and weights for the flight to be stable and you just won't get it with cheaper RCs
