Does Seagate count warranty from the date of import or from the purchase date? I got an external hdd from croma and they sent me old stock. Seagate warranty check says warranty valid till December 2025. Replacement is not an option since its out of stock.
 
Purchase date. Unless you have uploaded an invoice to seagate, they calculate their standard warranty (1 or 3 years) + few extra months. They will still ask for invoice at time of replacement. Upload the invoice and seagate warranty should update to reflect the new date.

Do you mean to say that they honour invoice date for warranty?

Thanks. I do not see an option to upload invoice during warranty check/product registration. At the time of claim, they will honor invoice date right?

Interesting. They should. When I registered online, they asked for my invoice. But it has been 3-4 years since I last did that. Get a confirmation from their chat support and keep a screenshot.
 
Yes! And thats across products and brands!
There have been several instances of gpu brands refusing warranty based on invoice date when it comes to old stock. So thought of checking.
Try registering the product in the Seagate website and see.

This was what i used. There was no option to upload invoice. Croma is another headache. I raised a ticket about the old stock and they have instead generated a return pickup.
 
No need invoice for registering. Invoice only needed during warranty claim if needed.
Thats what i mentioned. On registration, it shows warranty valid till December 2025.
Edit: But should be fine as others have mentioned. Will keep the hdd in case croma does not pick it up and check with seagate chat support.
