Ever wondered why Tata and Mahindra suddenly started tech-grading their cars all of a sudden?

It's all thanks to China. All these technologies are now available off-the-shelf. The whole dashboard mounted with steering wheel comes standard from China. All the local businesses do is fit things in place. We have many family friends who work/retired from Tata Motors.

By the way, I'm not complaining.

Major part being the engine drive is electric & electronic, which is a mega diversion from regular petrol guzzling engines.
Now ev car is a robot, electronic device with tons of data and criticality.

That means don't keep expectations of internal android OS getting an upgrade anytime. BTW is Mahindra copying Elon Musk's blocky car? That car design looks so ugly and bizarre. Spoilers on back windows. And that full back light trim. Looks horrible. Should be born ugly instead of born electric.

Exactly, it looks like a rip off of the Tesla Cybertruck. But good that people will get a cheaper alternative for Cybertruck. Ugly as it may be for some, it will have many takers I feel.

Why does it have a huge division between the front seats.
 
Regarding components mainly battery & BMS sytem being imported that's true. But its a very good decision .China has poured billions into developing ev ecosystem and some of the brands have made it rest of them are bust or government bails out. Many of the european car companiess to have tieups with them and they also tried own and are in dire situation. VW closing their German factories.

Mahindra & tata were at risk of being bust .Now tata definitely is .tata didnt go all out and made a proper ev with complete stack .

M&M has a superb sales record from the moment the launched xuv700 suv and other models except their ev xuv400 .But they had already begun a global ev skateboard "INGLO -INd for the globe" platform and created it using profits of their SUV profit money.

M&M sells it cars in Latin America .South Africa & Australia . Now convert the pricing of this car to their respective currency .It becomes affordable proper SUV ev which is not Chinese and not a tesla neither an expensive European car .And it achieves most of the attribute. So they are not only eyeing indian market but also overseas and using economy of scale ing price low. so a win win. VW/Skoda too were intrested to use M&M`s INGLO to manufature VW group ev cars in india.

what i liked abuut this cars is they understood is Indians wont buy an ev without a range . its not about a range thing or charging anxiety its about pricing of fast chargers .if you pickup nexon ev and plan a mumbai pune return trip it with one day city stay and some loitering around you cannot do it without external fast charging which when calculated becomes expensive than even a diesel/ petrol car. so no point of an ev .With a range of 500 - 600 you could return home and slow charge and for longer trip you can fast charge at at the speeds of 140 kw/h and top up the car from 20 to 80 percent.

what it will do to existing tatas ev ,upcoming ev price cut price cut and restrict them below 18 lakh if smaller battery and less feature or it will be dead on arrival
Maruti evx too will take a beating because its barebones and Hyundai creta ev too is ICE converted

Regarding design its prettier version of ugly cybertruck .

Regarding the designer .he is the designer of nexon /xuv700 and and all the new Mahindra with atrocious external design worst handles . To Add salt to the injury mahindra owns Legendrary

who have designed most iconic cars of all time life ferrari 250 ,f40 ,multiple alfa romeo, maserrati,Lancia 037 and i think even Aston martin DB 5 OG bond car

 
The only thing that is made in India is the body, tires, wiring harness.

The entire EV powertrain, Battery/ BMS, on board charger, AC compressor, VCU, infortainment hardware is imported.

i would say still a good deal

Something which I mentioned .They played this perfectly .I really wish they don't have issues which tata EVs are facing causing them to stop.

During the presentation they mentioned they are going to have specially trained relationship managers like top bank for continuous feedback and support

No that is completely incorrect.

Thar car has been conceived by Mahindra .The interiors a very good . Semi adaptive suspension for an ev with the weight of an ev etc is great .And don't mock them they also own Mahindra Racing. Competing in formula e and I think they have even won one or two races and multiple podiums
 
Front side look give a doubt whether it's back side, don't care much about looks. Feels if they work with front grills, it's design will tremendously change positively.
Indians to to look at performance, stability and economy side. Wondering how it goes.
Their stock price took a drop after this news.
 
The actual hype is because of the launch price and media is doing their part. But it should be pointed out that majority of the features being hyped are missing from the Pack 1, for which the price is valid.
 
I have done a mistake with purchasing of e scooter and I am not going to buy a software driven vehicle in India for at least next 7 years considering out growth. It is nightmare to fix them and no availability of 3rd party service unlike china.
