    The "Everyday" show-off thread !

Sold most of my headphones. Found two that I like and will keep these for quite a while. One more pair of IEMs this year although probably only around Nov/Dec and I'm done for good o_O

    Random IEM / Headphone Rants

@titana Portable now (SR71B and CLAS -dB) maybe a desktop setup in the future. As things stand I don't have any cable, these are a used pair that I traded one of my other cans for. Will probably ended up with a mini-XLR terminated cable that I can use with both the portable and desktop rigs by...

    Random IEM / Headphone Rants

My take on stock vs after market won't be fair as all my stock are single ended and all the after market are balanced. Even otherwise I don't think there's much of a difference. I do believe there might be a difference in durability of a silver plated copper and solid silver core. Will wait...

    Random IEM / Headphone Rants

@titana & @esanthosh Would either of you guys have an opinion on using solid silver core in a headphone cable. I'm worried about flexibility and durability primarily. I've read mixed opinions online about using silver core and I'm not sure which side of all the arguments to take! Since it has...

Advice on Buying Custom IEMs here in India

Don't pay too much attention to the number of drivers mate. In short all the customs from bigger players are good, read reviews and find one that you think suits you. I see a lot of Heir customs being sold but its the 8A most of the time.

    Custom Lod's and Headphone cables

I've tried a few. There's a slight difference in copper and silver to my ears but no where near as hyped as the folks on head fi make it out to be. Maybe I have rubbish ears :/ Shipping/dodgy customs and overpriced cables make them not a very attractive buy for most people. If your looking...

Advice on Buying Custom IEMs here in India

They're not fragile at all and should hold up well. Pack each piece individually in a zip lock bag and ship them in any durable box or tin can. There are quite a few people here with customs and they'll tell you the same thing. Go to any hearing aid specialist in your city. Insist they use...

    Random IEM / Headphone Rants

hzant6681 FYI- HiFiMAN RE-262 and RE-272 In-Ear Headphones | InnerFidelity He wouldn't be able to hear sound from both channels prior to the driver burning up if its the TRRS plug, right? My HE4 has the TRSS plug on the 3.5mm cable and works from the SR71B most other sources only one channel.

Think he means it comes standard with those 4 pin jacks. Do you have the small extension cable? That should be the adapter

    Random IEM / Headphone Rants

I agree with Brendon. Save up for a bit and buy a new IEM! Their build quality on some of their older stuff isn't great. I've been through 3 pairs of the RE-1s (I'd buy one again if I could find one) but I don't think its worth the trouble in your case. Shipping costs + driver cost +...

    What do we have Heir?

The AK100 is about 900 SGD usually. SG prices are on average 30% more than the US. End up buying from head-fi most of the time.....makes more sense. Right now Jaben has a deal going for Chinese New Year. CNY Special A (Special Price: $1128) Astell & Kern AK100 Audiophile Player (Usual...

    What do we have Heir?

Wasn't really bought for the JHs although I'm sure they'll sound good. If you're looking at a dedicated DAP and no amp the AK100 seems quite popular in SG. I like the look of the HM901 more though. With the amp modules being swappable they should drive iems and most cans quite well. Great...

    What do we have Heir?

Congrats man........ Glad you didn't get the UE ones you talked of at first. I've heard the demo of these and they're great. I'm all jealous and just promised myself that I'd save up for JH13s again :P BTW did Heir get the fit ok at the first go? So whats next now that you're back into audio gear?

    Random IEM / Headphone Rants

esanthosh I agree as a transport either should do just fine. It's only the iOS 6 thing that makes me lean towards the 4th gen touch. Would be buying one second hand and it's about 65 USD or so more than the 3rd gen. Battery life isn't much of an issue either as the CLAS charges the device...

    Random IEM / Headphone Rants

Got to try the FitEar TO GO! 334 a week or so ago. Amazing IEM, probably the best universal I've tried ever. Terribly expensive at 1400 USD but sounded great straight out from the iPhone. If you're someone who is thinking of picking up an iem + amp + source and with a budget that comes close to...

    Breakfast Ham?

Will buy some bacon next month, broke after the CLAS :/ Some more pics........... Essentially a portable DAC for use with Apple products on the go. Charges them as well which is nice. Apparently Cypher Labs pays close to 100 usd to Apple for the certification per item sold!! Also can be...
