Could any one who have JB and Unlocked using US tell me wht version of itunes they where using I m trying to use Itunes 8.0 and when I tried to select the firmware using the Shift+restore after sometime I get an error 10?

k bro...had similar kind of issue on one of my friend's machine with his iphone we just had the itunes reinstalled to the latest version as per apple KB worked out...But do u want to update ur handset to 2.2.1 with baseband 2.30 which means u wont be able to use Yellowsn0w

Yes madmaniac u r right but it only works with bootloader which is less than 5.08...Iphones which are coming now OTB would come with bootloader 5.08 upgraded baseband and firmware and the app u saw on Cydia would not work on bootloader 5.08:@

Praks there are 2 versions in Iphone one is the Firmware and other is baseband...So the baseband update comes with the Firmware update from itunes...So the 2.2 Firmware has 2.28 baseband and 2.2.1 comes with 2.30 baseband..Hopefully I should be clear....But there are ways u could have ur...

Well looks like Ragin u r stuck with the only opt 2 use Rebel in case if the bootloader is 5.08...The reason why ppl tell Rebel is becoz you dont have much signal issues or EDGE issues using Rebel...

Simple way to find 2g or 3g is by checking the backside color 2G would be silver and 3G would be black for 8 and 16GB and white for 16GB,the box which u get the fone would also say if its 3g else u wont see anything on the side What to check....?--->Check whether its through India or outside...

Praks I got my Iphone through ebay .... Unlocking is simple provided te baseband version is 2.28..There are generally 2 versions in iphone Firmware-2.X Baseband-2.28 If you get a phone with baseband 2.30 U will not be able to unlock it:no: and have to use rebel SIM.I just contacted Mr. Yogesh...
