my two cents. asus rtn13u b1 @2800 flashed to dd-wrt f/w external hdd of your choice and you well under 5k. i am sure this aint the most powerful setup but sure is a very optimal setup for the task at hand. i just configured one for a friend last night and the ease of setting it up is super.

dockstar is good but with half the processor speed of the tonidoplug. u can very well play music off it too with a usb soundcard. get in touch. i am using the tonidoplug and it is worth every penny. i have gone a little beyond and running a blog, torrents, jukebox and tonido on it...

yeah there are a number of router options available. not just routers for that matter of fact. i, for one, am using a much more versatile contraption to this effect and more. there are a number of threads here which u can go through for further details and then select what works best for you...

Its the other way around man... easy to find good snazzy phones on GSM... cdma with reliance and tata has cheap and plasticky lg and samsung phones... how we crave for smart phones for reliance !

to feel the real heat on android 2.2, i would suggest you drop the idea of milestone and instead look at 1ghz and above phones... i am using the HTC Droid Incredible on cdma and trust me, my old moto droid feels sluggish... I am due to get the Samsung EPIC in this week... Galaxy S ahs great...

it comes set on DHCP out of the box. as you attach the lan cable, an ip address is assigned. there is a web gui which runs on the plug similar to the ones on the routers... it has an option to change and assign ip address... it is under this setting that i have assigned a static ip to the plug...
