PC Peripherals Help needed regarding PSU

The Truth About Graphics Power Requirements V2 - Graphic Hardware - Forums - www.atomicmpc.com.au 5200 FX needs 27W max in 3D and much lower in 2D. 7300 GT needs 13W min, 29W max. Both these cards are in the same league, difference of just 2W.

    Storage Solutions HDD problem

If you value your data, buy a new hard disk. At least backup the important parts (that are not easily downloadable or replaceable) somewhere. Either a DVD, or a friend's hard disk or somewhere on the internet. Otherwise hope that Vista is lying about your hard disk failing.

    CPU/Mobo coolest cpu...

Atom is the coolest. No fan needed. Under $100 including motherboard :). You might need a fan to cool the chipset though.

Storage Solutions Raid 0 and Raid 1

I'd love to do such a thing if I could afford it and I had so much data. Great. Raid 0 on raptors should give you stunning performance.

Storage Solutions Raid 0 and Raid 1

Sorry, my post was a response to vNerd inviting comments about his considering raid 5 for data he does not wish to lose. My apologies if this is not what he meant.

Storage Solutions Raid 0 and Raid 1

Sorry for the complicated post, techie. But raid is definitely not for those who do not understand all details, so I assumed a highly raid aware audience. It is safer to simply backup files at many locations than raid. Especially if all technicalities are not understood. Why not raid: Some...

Storage Solutions Raid 0 and Raid 1

Raid 1: As you know, if you lose one disk, all data is available on the second one. Generally controllers do not let you read the surviving drive, because some header says that it is actually a part of a Raid 1 of which 1 drive has failed. I am sure tools exist to mine out the data without...

PC Peripherals Surge Protection for Modem/Router

An ideal UPS would not let the modem know that there is any power fluctuation. Seems like there is no ideal UPS. BIKeINSTEIN, are you saying that after connecting to UPS your router no more resets? Or is it the power strip that has made the difference?

Storage Solutions external HDD queries.need help here.

Firewire 800 beats USB 2.0. Firewire 400 cannot beat USB 2.0. Of course, both your laptop, and the drive should support firewire 800 to get the higher speed firewire 800 is supposed to give.

PC Peripherals Surge Protection for Modem/Router

I assume 1. the modem draws power from the UPS. 2. "modem drops the ADSL line" means the modem disconnects and immediately starts to connect again, giving you a few seconds of disconnectedness. If the above assumptions are true, it seems to be the fault of the UPS. It is supposed to give a...

CPU/Mobo [dvH] AMD struggling to survive

We hope so. The fear is that if Intel senses that AMD is in trouble, it might drastically reduce the price of its products for some time. Just to hasten the death of AMD. Then Intel will be supreme, having to do no innovation and getting huge profit margins.

CPU/Mobo Alternate Cooling for undervolted + underclocked AMD X2 4800+

Your aggression sensors are surely bad :). Aggression was the last thing on my mind. I mentioned earlier that CPU temp 11C means room temp less than 10C. You wisely did not disagree with this logic so I thought you don't need any more convincing on this point. After this if you say CPU sensors...

CPU/Mobo Alternate Cooling for undervolted + underclocked AMD X2 4800+

So you feel temperature could be less than 10C in your room now (because you don't feel the temp sensor on cpu is incorrect) ? And you do not need woollens? Your body is a bit unusual.

    CPU/Mobo The cheapest build

The difference is about 1300-1400 in both AMD and Intel families. See TheITWares - Processors (CPU Intel , AMD). This difference might come down in some months, not sure. I have a eeepc here for similar purposes (though my storage requirements are very low, and portability requirements are a...

CPU/Mobo Alternate Cooling for undervolted + underclocked AMD X2 4800+

If your AC reports the temperature of the room, please measure it. There is no way your CPU can be cooler than the room it is in. If it is, the temperature sensor on it is wrong. Another way to guess the room temperature is to use your body. If idle CPU temperature is 11C, room temperature can...

    CPU/Mobo The cheapest build

Vulc4n, Would there be nothing running except dc++ and ftp server? These activities are largely I/O bound rather than CPU bound i.e. bottleneck is never the CPU whether you have one client or a thousand clients. So I don't see why you need a dual core. Similarly for RAM. Assuming you have a...

CPU/Mobo Alternate Cooling for undervolted + underclocked AMD X2 4800+

tech_suhail, Something is seriously wrong. Is your CPU clocked at 1.6mhz? According to ISO, m stands for milli (0.001 hertz)but even if you mean M which is mega (1000000 hertz) it is a factor of about a thousand underclocked. Can you even open notepad in less than a minute? By 11C do you...

Linux GNOME 3.0 Is Coming, And Coming Soon!

I hate the new KDE menu, the tabbed one. Every time you open it, it could be in a different state depending upon how you last left it. 2 main reasons: 1. If you open one submenu the last time, that does not mean you will need the same submenu again. At all. 2. Now you have to read the opened...

Linux GNOME 3.0 Is Coming, And Coming Soon!

I take it you are dissatisfied with KDE4. If not, please stop reading and let me know why you made this comment :) From the developers' point of view, they did a lot of good work. It is not complete yet but you can see lots of new and innovative new paradigms being explored. Some might hate it...

PC Peripherals cabitnet power LED gone dim!

I got 50 LEDs from SP road. Don't worry, they'll give you one or 2 LEDs also. You need to go closer to KR Market Bus Stop rather than the computer shops. You will see shops for electrical items rather than electronics shops on that side of SP road. Ask any one for LEDs there.
