Laptops Here comes the Sony Vaio E series - Budget Gaming

That is indeed low. Is this while you are playing a game? Rooney, the configuration looks good. An off topic question: Can the memory card reader on Inspiron read MS-Pro-Duo? I have a cybershot and would hate if I have to look for an adapter (or cable) for reading the memory card.

Laptops Here comes the Sony Vaio E series - Budget Gaming

Thanks for your comment Pradeep. It would be okay if battery performance is not great, but I'm hoping it is not disappointing. Less than 150mins while surfing would be disappointing, I don't play games anyway. I'm surprised by your comment about build quality. Will check out Inspiron as well...

Laptops Here comes the Sony Vaio E series - Budget Gaming

I'm considering buying a Vaio and a bit worried about run time on standard battery. It would be great if some users can post their experience on this (both for EA and EB series). If the laptop runs out of power when in less than 2.5-3 hours while doing light surfing, that would be a deal breaker...

    Audio 5.1 sound problem!!!!

5.1 giving out no voice doesn't appear like a 2.1 issue (as 2.1 excludes surrounds and not the fronts and center which is where most of the voice should be). This may sound absurd, but, it could be something else like Karaoke being switched on causing the voice to be suppressed.

Video LCD or LED or PLASMA, my dads torturing me :(

Edge LEDs over CFL... However, I've recently learnt that most of the LG LED TVs are coming with full array LEDs (and not edge). Conceptually, that is promising, need to take a look. There is something about Sony's Industrial Design that makes Bravia look understated and elegant. After-all...

Video Plasma TV with Component Out for HD

How far is the CRT going to be from the LCD/Plasma. If it is going to be far consider RF-modulated output. In other words, the video signal would be modulated on channel 3/4 frequency and that would allow the signal to be carried longer. Most TVs have this output, but, it would be SD.

Video LCD or LED or PLASMA, my dads torturing me :(

Plasmas are much maligned but the recent controversy about auto reduction in black levels with aging on Panasonic plasmas didn't help the matter either. Coming to LCD vs. LEDs. The so called LED tvs are actually LCD panels which use LEDs for backlight instead of the more conventional CFL. Most...

Car & Bike Noob Q: Which car for mostly highway travel?

I'm one such owner. I own a Ritz and I feel that its handling is reasonably tight. It could be the wider track than other tallboys or the 185-tyre size on my Zxi, but, I never felt any nervousness in its handling. Okay. Here is my first hand experience, which is different from yours. I owned a...

Audio Analogue is only true HD

@Cnu, Go for what freshseasons is suggesting, I too don't see a need for a soundcard. However, I am perplexed by your comment on 12-bit processing on the Sony HTB..Okay, I looked at the link and the 12-bit spec is for Video DAC and not audio-DAC. Here is a brief on what would happen if you...

HTPC for full HD play back..

Audio: I'm trying to understand why you need an optical out: Do you already have an AVR without HDMI input? SPDIF (optical/coaxial out) can not carry the likes of DTS-HD or Dolby-TruHD. You will need an HDMI connector for that anyway. The best fidelity connection scheme would be: HTPC...

This thread makes for a very good reading. @Vinayga, Do let us know how the linux install on WD-Live goes. I presume it would be possible to get Firefox running on the WDTV, and with a wireless keyboard and mouse you have couch-computer.. Cheers, apande
