4TB NVMe SSD for Lenovo Legion Pro Recommendations?

Laptop: Lenovo Legion Pro 16IAX10H (Gen5 + Gen4 NVMe)
OS: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
Use: code builds, local LLM models (storage + load), dev work
Constraints: No heatsink

My take

Best value: Lexar NM790

Safest long-term: WD Black SN7100

SN850X feels overkill for a laptop at current price

T500 feels weak value in India (3-year warranty)

Any Linux + laptop thermal or India RMA experiences with these?
Is NM790 “good enough”, or is SN7100 worth the premium?

Samsung is super expensive in india and hence not considering it. If there is something else that should be considered, please let me know.

Thanks!

The lexar seller on amazon looks shady by recent reviews, would recommend due diligence before ordering.

This. Definitely go with WD over Lexar.

Because the seller is shaddy or because WD implies better service and reliability ? Worth the additional 10K for the brand and peace of mind?

Completely missed that. Great headsup. I dont know even if they confirm to me in writing, if they will send it after getting paid. if there are ideas on how to go about it, i will be glad to know as well.

Be warned not to accept any WD/Crucial ssd ordered online if difference between mfg/import date on box & purchase date is more than a year because you won’t get warranty from purchase date then but rather you will get from mfg date. This is especially true for flipkart where they often sell even 3-4 years old mfg date ssd in seemingly very good deals.
