Access to what? I imagine that you’re talking about https://www.reuters.com/world/india/indias-new-income-tax-bill-proposes-broad-access-taxpayers-devices-social-media-2025-02-13. Nowhere in this article is it mentioned that Whatsapp is backdoored. Neither can it be inferred that this is the case. Governments can seize mobile phones and make the user unlock it for them but this is true for all personal property that you own.
Your lock and key analogy is also fallacious because the key is stored securely on both android and apple devices. This is also true for other encrypted chat apps that run on desktop. You seem to be under the impression that it’s somehow easy to break into a properly secured phone. That is most definitely not the case. If the phone isn’t properly secured, that is on the user not the system.

It’s like some kind of law, like Godwin’s law about nazis, but about how a TE thread will inevitably devolve into personal attacks.
I propose we call it Nimran’s Law, because Nimran is a good phonetization of NMRN which is an acronym of @NotMyRealName, a user who famously deleted his whole account after a frustrating debate where he refused to resort to name-calling (the chia plotting service thread).
Also because Nimran sounds like Godwin.
We did health camps in far-off places, blood sugar tests, vaccines etc. “Educated” people in the local government didn’t like that we’d offer free healthcare to the uneducated.
