Advice regarding buying from a seller who's not providing any information?

I’ve found a decently priced SSD and Ram on OLX but he’s being vague about the details so I’m not sure how much I can trust the seller.

Don’t buy.

Agree..just dont buy.
.why trying to take unnecessary risk.

His replies are screaming “Trust me bro” without saying it directly.

Do you want to trust him ?

Personally, I would trust and pay him only with a forgotten 2000/- rupee note found recently.

Olx is 95% junk and fake , so my advice is stay away

Simple, don’t buy

you should go ahead and buy…. for science

BTW 256gb ssd for 2k…is this even a good deal?

I am assuming its an in person deal.

Keep in mind that an individual, esp someone in college or just out of it will be happy to put in the effort of running health checks etc for a 2k sale.

However someone older or esp someone who does this as a business will not be particularly bothered to spend that effort.

Tldr, dont assume its a fake deal by default

However if its an online txn, avoid

If its an in person txn, go with a mechanism to test / check and then close

I bought a RAM stick last September / October off OLX and thankfully the guy was a genuine person. I requested him to share a video and photos over WhatsApp and he did. Got it looked at by another forum member and then it was just the deal.

If it were such a seller then I won’t proceed for a deal.

Yes it’s a in person deal that’s only reason I even considered talking to them

The only images provided were on the listing

If it’s in person
Then maybe you should just test it and pay him if all turns okay.

You just need to take system to test it though . ( That’s the only trouble but worth it I guess)

Let him know about this and see if he agrees .

I don’t see this mentioned anywhere, but what are the basic details, like brand and model? Warranty status etc.?

I’m currently inquiring them for more details

tell him to send it you you and once you confirm that its working fine you will pay.

Bruh :face_exhaling:

Sounds like a reseller

yeah, clearly a reseller, which means probably not a scam (scam in the sense of taking the money and running away, no necessarily in the sense of selling stolen/tempered stuff).

The picture screams one of those sellers listing everywhere on OLX and Facebook. I have not dealt with them yet but had decent experience in getting details for like 3-4 out of 10.

Just be careful with any dealings as usual and don’t buy unless it’s absolutely necessary. It’s crazy what they are doing out there. All kinds of scrap has made it to listings and priced like they are selling silver.
