AI platform to earn $$ - All kinds of roles available

Hey everyone,

Just came across a site called Mercor, started by Indian-American founders. It’s open to freelancers worldwide and offers very competitive hourly rates. The platform currently features a wide mix of opportunities in Tech, Research, Healthcare, Legal, and Administrative domains. Even there were roles for PC building advice. But more useful for those who want to train the AI models. Regular jobs are available, but most involve training AI models and using your expertise.

Interview is conducted by AI. It walks through your resume. So list only those who are confident about. It picks questions from your mouth. So speak only about your strong areas or prepare well in advance. Of course you can prepare it up front via chatgpt / copilot. Even full-time roles are available

For candidates who are referred, the typical benefits are … (DM me for referral)

  • They give me a referral bonus if you are recruited in any of the projects. Around $250 or more, depending on the project for which you are being recruited. I am planning to share it if you are interested.
  • Faster, prioritized review for relevant roles and quicker AI interview scheduling.
  • A clearer context for our team about the candidate’s background and fit, which can help with matching to suitable projects.
  • In some cases, eligibility for a candidate-side incentive (e.g., a sign-on/joining bonus) is determined when a specific listing explicitly offers it. These vary by role and location.

Are you currently working for Mercor? I came across a legal AI position and was mulling over applying for it. But I was unsure of the platform and a lot of people online said it’s an AI interview first company, so they’re essentially mining interview data to train their systems.

Also I don’t see any legal roles that you’ve mentioned in your post.

Would love to hear your experience.

I was personally contacted by one of their Project managers, based on my profile in the website. They gave me an assessment link for that project, it was not listed for all. Waiting for the results.

So I guess it is genuine.

I strongly advise people to be cautious with Mercor.

Based on multiple posts and public discussions online, I suspect the platform is not operating as a straightforward freelance marketplace. A large part of what they are doing appears to be gathering voice/video/conversation data that could be used for training their AI models — rather than actually placing people into legitimate paid roles.

There are also reports from some contractors claiming that they were encouraged to bring more candidates into the system, which makes the entire structure feel more like a recruitment funnel than a real marketplace. @jammy420 you may fall in this category.

For reference, here are some public discussions:

Also, just look at their site structure.

There isn’t a direct “post a job” flow for clients. There’s no open marketplace where companies freely publish positions and freelancers apply. Everything runs through Mercor as a gatekeeper, and they determine what happens.

A normal freelance marketplace gives equal access for both sides: freelancers AND clients can openly post. even if you consider this not as a freelance marketplace but a job portal like Naukri.com etc. it still lacks this ability.

Therefore, I think that Mercor is not a genuine freelance job platform and rather more like a data collection system.

It as a freelance platform. How to register as a client, the steps are given below. you can definitely check the comment section in the link you posted. There are a few cases of people claiming they are working.

In any case, there is Telus Digital, oulier, Turing, MicroAI and many more platforms recruiting ppl from all domains with AI interviews. My sister as a Dr gave couple of interviews in other sites as well. All are AI interviews. .. Anyway will keep the post updated with my interview results
