Even that usage require constant monitoring on these portable drives. Just use crystaldiskinfo/similar software & check temps for few days.

First of all, it will take years for AI Hype to crash. Second, AI datacentre ram is useless for consumer hardware which a typical user has & even many ssd model types used are not compatible with consumer lever hardware. Most impact will be seen in used hdd prices but ssd/ram prices will at best return to their original prices before AI demand start booming.

Are they trying to exploit consumers and blame it on Data Centres?

Same factories which made consumer level ram/ssd are now being used to make AI datacentre compatible ram. This resulted in drastic reduction in supply of consumer level ram & ssd. That is what Micron meant when it said it is exiting retail market via its crucial brand. Why use same factory for making consumer level ddr5 ram & ssd when it can make datacentre compatible ram which sells at 10 times the typical consumer level ram/ssd prices.
