Amd 64 requires min 1000watts ups

Hi

System which I want to buy:
Amd 3400 64
Asus K8N
512mb*2
120sata
17"flat samsung 793mb
altec lansing 251(5.1)

My comp engineer says that i need min 1kw ups.
Is it true?

i think so, 17" says it all itself,

But doesn’t 17" monitor run on 600/625va?
Also, what is the cost of 1000kva?
i wanna go for microtek or something.
Can i go for 2 600va ups?

I wud suggest 1kVA too.
An A64 + fancy gfx card requires minimum of 750VA, and so it is best to go for 1kva cos of ur 17" monitor.
And no, 2*600 will not do as well, because at most the monitor can connect to one.
So the one with the CPU attached will be close to overloading.

well I am using 600VA APC. Gives me enough backup time to save and safely shut down my PC. If it handles this PC it can handle yours for sure. These days there is very short power cut problem in my area, power goes for like 30 seconds -1 minute and comes back.
Thats why i got his APC.
Does the job just fine. I have kept just my monitor and cabinet connected to APC.
Modem speakers are not connected.

Maybe, but let me tell, one day he might be doing some heaby duty stuff on his comp, and it is possible the UPS will not handle it sucessfully.
Look, I ran my rig on a 500 VA thing for quite some time. That doesn’t mean it is recommended.

function of UPS= allow you to save whatever you are doing and safely turn off the PC.
Thats what its ment to be. No UPS will last for more than say 10-15 minutes and its not needed. If you want that then go for invertor + UPS.
600VA handles modern machine preety well. I was able to save HL2 game and come to desktop, save optn word doc and shut down the PC with APC 600VA.
It did not flunk even though i was running HL2.
If you are doing something like rendering in Maya and stuff like that you will have to go for inverter too as it take ages to render complex frames.

When I mean handle, I mean just manage to take the load - not backup time.
It is possible for load to surge above the UPSes rated value and cause it to either switch off, or worse - conk out.
Most of the time it won’t happen, but it is better not to depend on that.

i had a 600va numeric ups which couldnt handle the load from either of my rigs.. in case of a blck out and if there was anything more than 50% cpu usage the ups would cut off immediately. didnt have this problem on a much older rig of mine.

now using a 750va ups on both rigs and seems to be managing ok.. (just pc no monitors)

ya, i had 600VA powersafe which could not handle my rig. but then i went for more expensive APC. I talked to dealer and confirmed that i will return the UPS is it dosent work. And he agreed. So i first tested powersafe and then APC. APC worked just fine.
Actiually out PCs use less than 500va is most cases, just depends on quality and efficiency of the UPS.

shud i go for 800va microtek?
what is cost of 800va/1000va?

amd 3400 754
asus k8n
512mb *2 ddr 400 kingston/transcend/corsair
128mb radeon 9800pro
120sata

well 800VA shud do the job, at least for 10 minutes backup.
Microtek is good mostly - good service network in most cities.
Don’t know about prices.

why do you want microtek, i know they are cheap but APC is not that much expensive.
APC 750VA will be better than most others.

i am considering 2 microstek 600va ups each of 1800 approx perhaps.

i can put my computer(400watts ps ) on one ups
and altec lansing 5.1 251 and 17"flat 793mb monitor on one 600va ups

Is 400watts enough for :
amd 3400 necastle/clawhammer 754
asus k8n
128mb radeon 9800pro ati orignal
120sata 8mb cache
512mb*2 ddr 400
cd rw
dvd drive
5.1 speakers
10button genius joystick
otpical mouse
multimedia kb
floppy disk drive
creative sound blaster 7.1 live for 1750
With 400watts can i oc my system?

for 200 which is the best mouse pad for gaming and 3d rendering

hardboy please stick to one thread for your questions. posting the same questions in different threads is confusing.

anyway i dont see the point of getting 2 ups and why would you want to connect a 5.1 speaker set to a ups ?

get a single 800va or 1kva ups and be done with it. i think you can live without having audio for another 15 or so mins

I need to have more than one power connection for that.
Also, won’t my speakers be damadged?

Also, will my 800va microtek be able to handel all that + 5.1 ch speakers

Speakers getting damaged because of power failure?? No way man

But say i connect my speakers to the ups,is a 800va ups for all the above stuff
400watts ps
samsung 17"flat crt 793mb
altec lansing 251 5.1ch surround sound

speakers draw low voltage but vey high Amps.
Speakers wont get damaged man, just switch them off when power goes and back on when power comes back.
You dont need your speakers on when power goes

But can my microtek 800va support the speakers as well?
