amd 64 socket 754 3000+ = 2ghz
amd 64 socket 939 3000+ = 1.8ghz
also, how 939 is cheaper than 754???
what if somebody goes for amd 64 socket 754 3000+ & with a 6600gt graphic card, 1gb ram @ 400mhz, will that be a good gaming machine???

nd soc 939 isnt cheaper than 754…just 300 to 500 more than 754
as for ur 3Q…tht gaming machine wud do well for atleast a year

Socket 754 wont stop, Semprons based on 754 will yet roll out.

The mobo is not an SLI version, its Nforce 4 vanilla AFAIK its for 8.5k, the 3200+ proccy is for 9k
S754 is dead socket for performance processors. Only value processors like sempron will be comming out on s754.
A8N-E is not SLI motherboard. A8n SLI is sli motherboard.

Cost depends on city, state and dealer. But its around 9.5K at the moment.
As of now S754 A64 are in short supply. Only 2800+ is available in good numbers. 3000+, 3400+ are now in real short supply. So ya its possible than you will get S939 cheaper now.
Apparently you haven’t heard of Newark? The Turions are also on S754, so it is by no means a dead end for Socket754 yet.
Soc 754 will be there till about end of 2006…but in the value segment.
Yep, the one bright spot for Socket 754 is the Mobile chips/Turions. Many are familiar with the success had with the Athlon XP-M’s. 2.6Ghz overclocks among the A64 Mobile DTR chips are pretty common.
In fact 90nm Mobile chips having a TDP of only 35W are out right now for the Socket 754 platform - Oakville cores i believe. Judging from the success the Winchesters had owing to the 90nm transition, we might see something similar.
Very early revisions of the Turion haven’t been just ok at overclocking, hopefully things will improve with the turions of newer weeks.
I am perfectly aware of turion. I even posted pics of it when they first came out at guru3d.
But again its mobile CPU. Performance is not exceptional even with impressive overclock. It little disappoining to be honest.
Amd i am 100% sure it wont be available for purchase as saperate CPU in India. Same was the case with Mobile Athlon XP. I had to get mine from US back in those days.
At the moment there are plenty of options and possibilities on S939. If you are gettying new system it makes more sense in getting S939.
You wont see performance processors like 3800+ 4000+ and dual core on S754.
I wouldnt say performance isnt exceptional owing to it being a Mobile CPU. Performance is very much up there, and some of the highest clocks are achieved on A64 Mobile chips, that too considering most are 130nm chips. A Mobile CPU’s architecture is exactly identical to a Desktop, so clock for clock you would see the same performance.
There are reports however of Turions using “slower speed transistors” in order to account for less thermal output, but thats about it.
True though, you arent going to see any of these chips out in Indian markets. And also there are reports of AMD stopping production of Athlon 64 chips on the Socket 754 platform, leaving only the Semprons (which may get 64-bit capability later on to compete with the Celerons). But then again Semprons are showing up on the Socket 939 platform too. However Mobile chips arent expected to go to the Socket 939 platform, only straight to the Socket M2 platform.
amd 3400 newcastle in actual performance should not perform inferior to the amd 3200 winchester if both are in single channel atelast,infact there may be a bit increase or equivalent performance.
