AMD really needs to name it’s CPUs better. The 5900xt makes it seem like it’s a slightly better 5900x while it’s nearly the same as the 5950x and leagues apart from the 5900x. The 5700 sounds like almost the same as 5700x but is significantly worse
Completely agree. Don’t even get me start on the 5600 line up; we have the 5600,5600X,5600G,5600F,5600T,5600GT,5600XT . Some of them are your regular 5600s, others are about as good as a 3600.
Panther lake naming is just as bad if not worse. ![]()
You left out the 5600X3D! ![]()
I first thought you need to be named them from Ryzen to Fallen.
It’s not only with AMD, there are soo many products nowadays which follow the very same trend.
Is this done intentionally, would love to know the hidden marketing logic behind absurd naming scheme, there definitely must be some paper on it.
I think some of it must be to intentionally confuse the customer so that they buy a worse product for the money.
Like how the 8gb and 16gb variants in gpus had the same name
Yes exactly, make lower variant stuff have higher numbering , so that it sells more leaving more profit in hand.
At least the naming conventions were understandable, but after they released the Core Ultra X bullshit, they’re in the same boat.
@Crazy_Eddy title has a grammatical mistake. It should be its and not it’s.
Every company following the new shit trend.
I really dislike this trend. I almost bought the 5700 instead of the 5700x 2 yrs back. And it’s not a minor change - half the cache for just 1k less. It’s a shit product that shouldn’t even exist but here we are - less informed users buy these products and companies like AMD make higher profits
