I appreciate the responses. Weighing all my options before pulling the trigger on any of those, as AM4 is EOL and I canāt justify spending too much on a non-X3D chip, but Iāve not made up my mind either way. Iāll keep this open for a while before making a decision.
Iām not sure what you mean. The 7800X3D alone is ~35k. Thereās no point in cheaping out if I go AM5 anyway. Right now Iām just looking for a good CPU to keep my AM4 guy going for a few more years.
@bssunilreddy is talking about getting a 7600/x processor which can be done in 30-35k mark. It is somewhat on par with X3D processors if you count the average of multiple games together.
Benefit of going with AM5 would be an easy upgrade in the future with something like 7800X3D or another X3D processor that may launch in future on the AM5 platform. AMD has committed to supporting the AM5 platform with new CPUs through at least 2027. DDR5 has also reached maturity so itās not a bad time to upgrade to AM5.
If you can still get a 5700X3D or 5800X3D for good price then go for it. Not everybody wants to shell out big bucks for what is basically a processor upgrade.
Oh yeah, Iām well aware. And I technically āhaveā an AM5 system I built for my cousin. In return he gave me his 2017 build since I donāt game much anymore. Problem is it has a 1600 which is pathetic even for my needs.
Guys, I appreciate everyone trying to be helpful, but Iām not a noob when it comes to PC building Iād be much obliged if we can keep the discussion limited to trade posts. Thanks!
