Best Apps for Android (FOSS)

In addition to these, I’d suggest [Rethink App](’

GitHub - celzero/rethink-app: DNS over HTTPS / DNS over Tor / DNSCrypt client, WireGuard proxifier, firewall, and connection tracker for Android.

) for DNS, and for AirDroid alternative [Plain App](’

GitHub - ismartcoding/plain-app: PlainApp is an open-source app that lets you securely manage your phone from a web browser. Access files, media, contacts, SMS, calls, and more through a simple, easy-to-use interface on your desktop.

) works well.

Obsidian has a really good offering but if you want to stick to open source, another polished product I’ve seen is [AnyType](’

https://anytype.io/

). It’s cross-platform, local-first (like Obsidian), syncs using E2E encryption (P2P too!).

Unlike Obsidian, it’s not a markdown editor though. More similar to Notion in that regard, it’s block-based

Anytype UI is too cluttered though

Rethink is pretty cool

Try this, not FOSS I guess:

They released an [update](’

Desktop 0.46.0

) recently which changes how everything is organized. It was a decent improvement to UX. Personally, I think the UI is fine but to each their own

Intersting. Downloading now.

Try fossify. Stable so far. Never missed the stock dialer or messages

Just noticed that there are two threads for apps. Possible merge?

This one is FOSS only.

Ah, makes sense. My bad!
