Wanted your advice on the best mobile service provider (either prepaid or postpiad connections) for STD Calls.I’ll be using the connection mainly for making STD calls only and thats my main criteria. Is there a service provider that gives low rates if both the phones in a call(the calling phone and the recieving phone) are of the same service provider???
My present budget comes around 2k-2.5k on reliance prepaid(damn costly, 350 charge on a 550 Value card and outgoing STD at 2.5/minute)
I thot Reliance to Reliance was the cheapest STD available.. But if thats working expensive how about Skype
also, perhaps u cud check with Tata Indicom.. coz they usually offer full talktime on their recharge cards.. that cud be helpful in getting more value for ur money..
Relaince to Reliance doesnt work out to be cheap(atleast in case of prepaid as the talktime offered is peanuts even in the high priced prepaid cards of reliance..).
I dont prefer reliance as their mobile phone range sucks…i’ll be buying a hig-end mobile soon and the model that I want isnt available in reliance so thats the main reason why I am not opting for reliance..
I’ll check out the indicom thingy though…any more advise is welcome
If u dont get much range with reliance, u’ll mostly face the same prob with Tata Indicom too.. so u r better off with Airtel i guess.. coz their STD is Rs.2.65 i think.. and soemtimes they have some offers going where u get 50 bucks worth of Airtel to Airtel STD call time free..
Tata Indicom sux..bekaar on prepaid(cud find only prepaid details on their site).
Local 1.8/minute and STD 3/minute(5 paise/sec).Bekaar
Somebody plz help me :(.
PS:arcshish cud u plz elaborate on ur above post or gimme a link or something??cud not find CELLONE Postpaid links or 1 year plan(the 1 year plan will be waste for me i guess as i’ll blow 3k in one month itself ).
I am in Mumbai and i am extremely satisfied with RIM…the thing is i too need to make lotsa STD calls…and Reliance to Reliance STD calls are @ 1.79/min but it goes down to Re 1/min if u change to another tariff plan(under which STD to any phone in India is also Re 1/min )
Also there is the Reliance India Calling Card(can be used with both prepaid and postpaid)…the Rs 220/- voucher(30 days validity) gives a talktime of Rs 200 and the STD rates for Reliance to Reliance is Re 1/min and STD to anyother phone is Rs 2/min.
One more thing…i was using Orange for the past 5 years their service is good and the network is ok but is becoming congested day by day..lot of call drops n stuff. Also they work out to be very expensive…still charge Rs 75/- for CLIP!!!
But i changed over to RIM this year am i am extremely happy with the network…though the ppl at the customer service are a bit poor with english thats ok coz u dont really need to call them.I think they provide the lowest rates of all cellular operators!
I think Cellone has something known as a “parent-child” card or something, i’m not too sure. All i know is, its got free calling between the two cards, of course both cards must be local numbers, however considering Cellone offers free roaming in Tamilnadu, it basically works out to free STD calls. Someone I know was using it to keep in touch with his fiance, will clarify with him and find out what it was.
And like Masky, I too am pretty sure why you need it
@Wraith: I am from Hyderabad but will be in Gurgaon most of the time..I DONT want to use the cellphones given by reliance and want to use my own..just bought a high-end phone for someone and want to buy a good phone myself(the phone’s not in the reliance range).
So, reliance-reliance is ruled out for me.
The BSNL Excel Service is not available in Gurgaon :(, the 3000 talktime card looked great…1.8/min STD to any cell is cool, its a shame BSNL is not available in Gurgaon :(.
