Brahmos - India's answer to Cruise Missiles

I think this deserves a separate thread.
As new versions are now being designed and tested.
We can share and discuss all at one place.

Latest News- Indian tested Combat ready Brahmos again.

Brahmos II expected speed Mach 8. ( Our enemies defence system might get hit before it even detects it)

It seems that countries need wars or skirmishes from time to time to show case their newly developed weapons capabilities and make more money by selling and upgrade them to sell more.

That is very true.
Without conflict there will be no need for such deadly weapons.

And then the RnD is also very expensive .

India and Russia had spend over 2000 crore on RnD of Brahmos.
It is significantly a very huge investment.

Though I don’t know Why Russia does not use Brahmos ?

Having said that it is a remarkable missile. To be able to make Pakistani’s beg for peace in 2 days shows they knew they dont have a chance against Brahmos.

Atleast yet. ofcourse they will be working on their version too by now.

Though Russia didn’t buy Brahmos, they have P-800 Oniks which is original design and variants. Though used very less in current RUvsUA war, UA said only only 12/211 (5.69%) of Onyx were intercepted by Ukraine’s air defense.

I think in that case Russia -India must have hidden purpose behind this.

By sharing the tech with India . They could avoid sanctions in future and still be able to export.

Yep, quite possible, war and geopolitics is a complex game.

In this war, UA attacked and killed RU’s missile developers and such facilities, especially kh-101, etc., so RU got dealt hard.

Also, USA might be monitoring Brahmos tech transfer with eagle eyes.

On books it is made to look like a proper joint development and India taking a bit higher stakes.
But inside US knows…India is also playing some games.

USA cannot keep pulling India out of taking such steps for its own security.

No matter how much it tries.

India knows it needs to get self reliant and work with close partners only if it wants to stop being bullied around.

Due to ban on export of certain missiles, it was made as a joint venture. It is the Russian Yakhont missile.

as per some article India and Russia spend $250 million on RnD.
I am guessing India would have just given Russians $250 million and took the tech transfer and started developing it.
India is exporting also and making up for that money now and even Russia is able to make some money out of it. And USA ko chut*** banaya but I am sure they can see through also . Only they cant react to it as its a joint development and not arms export thing.

Not a bad deal ha. India should do more like this. Saves us some time also and eventually we make up the money. APJ Kalam( the best Indian of my generation) was behind this I believe.

Here is the article… Found it.

Why India's BrahMos cruise missile costs around Rs 25-35 crore per unit? 8
