Buy hard-drive online or offline?

Need a 2TB HDD, should i get it from a physical store or i should just get it from Toshiba P300 2TB High-Performance Hard Drive (HDWD320UZSVA)

I know that packaging will be a lot better than amazon’s but i am still worried about courier companies’ handling process

And is there a better drive available than the mentioned one, it’s a cmr drive and reviews are good for the specified model, have checked failure rates on backblaze’s annual hdd report and the drive looks good

Which city are you from? Better get it locally. Amazon and others have packaging woes with regards to Internal HDD. External HDD are padded ok but the internal drives are not box packed. Also risk of frauds are high right now, the moment anyone sees the details of shipment. The Toshiba RMA is dealt with online through Rashi Peripherals. You can contact them for list of Authorised dealers too.

All CMR drives are basically same as they are all built using same tech. Backblaze annual hdd report is irrelevant to majority of users because of their unique working environment not found in any typical home without which you can’t really predict anything based on their report not to mention most of the models in their report are not even sold in retail market of many countries.
