Bypassing Jio Fiber Router/ONT -Guide

Will suggest you to also ask advice on geeky twins discord server.

Anyone know why its not working with TP Link G7. I can only use TP Link G3 or we can somehow make it work with G7. I have followed all steps mentioned in this thread and still was not getting connected or IP assigned

G7 has known incompatibility issues. Sell it to Airtel user and purchase VSOL V2802RH from ongoing group buy.

Whats group by?

TP Link G3 v2 also works for Jio. I can confirm. Group buy is usually when you and a few other users join, pool together some money, import a few VSOL units (or whatever), then dispatch them among yourselves (You pay net import cost including customs+shipping). Why? Because most Chinese sellers don’t ship individual units (especially to India), and its cheaper to buy in bulk. For VSOL units, usually Paulj or rocking used to handle the importing process. Not sure if they are still doing that. A word of warning though. Compatibility depends on your ISP OLTs too. These days its mostly ALCL or TJNW OLTs that are reporting issues(at least for airtel- haven’t personally come across any such issues with Jio, may be they use different OLTs).

I was able to return the g7 which I bought from Amazon and ordered g3 from the link provided in one of the comment above. Waiting for it to arrive and will update the status here

my newly bought g3 v2 is also not working with airtel. It can’t scan vlan. Airtel is rapidly changing backend configs and maybe hsgq stick can also stop working anyday.

That is why it is always a risk trying to sue your own ONT here. Best option is ISP device in bridge mode but if that is not possible (many ISPs don’t allow this) then using DMZ option in ISP router works almost as fine. Yes there will be double nat but I have yet to see any noticeable performance hit or issue because of this even if your ISP uses CGNAT which would technically make it triple nat.

How to join the server, as i am wanting to do a setup and need more information.

It worked perfectly fine with xz000 g3 in the first try itself. But my tpLink router still complains about double NAT

cool post, but why can’t they just make it easier?
