Chinese chipmaker's new 7nm CPUs reportedly outperform Intel's Raptor Lake

Is any body tracking Loongson chips? Seems their previous iteration was close to Zen1 in perf.

Looks like everyone is shitting on Intel .. hell I wonder if we ourselves make one and even that will turn out to be better than them.

Chala to Chaand tak nahi to shaam tak …

Where is their older CPU, in which market or product?

Intel now have no choice but to give something good & innovative at lesser price than AMD and now this Loongson (sound like son of Loongi wala)

This stereotype is long dead. They can produce anything, from low-end to high-end, depending on your budget. China files the most patents annually, and it will soon reflect in their output.

They’re already used in Chinese government offices. Remember, China is the world’s largest market; 20% of Apple’s total sales come from there. Chinese chipmakers don’t need to outperform Intel and AMD, they just need to create ‘good enough’ chips for local consumption.

Unfortunately India is not as adept on IP theft as China is.

Companies have wisened up too late, so have to see how China manages to actually iterate and improve. For example, 7nm based on previously diverted ASML machines is fine but they will have to figure out to innovate by themselves.

I know .. I was implying sarcasm ..

India ranks 2nd in IP theft worldwide. Guess our relatively smaller manufacturing base kept it under wraps.

They’ve repeated this pattern in various fields: IP theft → improvisation → reselling to the same companies.

USA invited all European intellectuals to their country including Hollywood, that is how they became number one in the world.
It’s now just some ‘authentic’ 'murricans shooting their guns into hurricanes which created their intellectual property.
Even our best loved rocket scientist wouldn’t mind kind of intellectual import for progress of country.
China is far ahead of our country in many ways than we think due to one reason or other and better we learn and respect from them.

India will also invite Billionaire & Trillionaires, what a big deal … let ask US to invite population of country where it believe to play Sugar Daddy with latest so called students coup and Nobel winner peace lover spreading love there over their minorities.

Even US/UK import our WHOLE Brilliant Scientist for their progress.

That’s why every time those who love china & it’s progress I request them to advocate for China Type Political System here in India too.

Same style of reporting for Chinese defense stuff and especially China economy related stuff in western media.

What is said and what is are and can be very different

@@blr_p I believe in data and benchmarks. Benchmark for their previous iteration which is closer to Zen 1 1500x.

It’s not hard to believe that they can reach raptor lake’s i3 performance from their last known performance. It’s a matter of time we will have the benchmark for these latest chips.

Hasn’t every mobile manufacturer gamed those benchmarks to the point they are meaningless to the general public and reviewers tend to ignore them

Wait for more comparisons by others to confirm what you believe.

Title also says reportedly. I never said for sure about these latest chips. We have reviews for their old chips by non chinese and western reviewers.

It’s been a common theme to ignore Chinese until it’s too late. They were said to be decades behind but they seem to be only a decide behind now. They may have stolen IPs but their local consumption is enough to dent the revenues of major global companies.

You don’t have to. That’s the beauty of it.

And did they match the initial hype?

A decade is a lot.

With sanctions it will be harder to advance. There’s only a handful of companies that make the equipment to manufacture these chips amd they have sanctions on China.

That’s the same overconfidence in the West allowed China to dominate in many industries today.

Never did. But that’s not the point. They are doing better than the expectations.

Yes. But they are in a better position than the mass expectation of them being multi decades behind. They don’t need to out perform the competition right away, they just need to get better enough to corner some part of the local demand. That alone is a multi billion dollars market.

True. China’s back is against the wall. But this might also push them much harder to come out with a better solution.

Overall, can’t understand what you actually want to convey.

Is that why yearly several thousands of millionaires from India leave the country by droves to USA or west ?
Even those who can barely afford it, die walking down the desert border routes, many infamously from our very glorious leader’s state.

Yeah, some good IITians, right ?
Should they be leaving, btw ?

Here, there is no specific love or hate towards anyone. Just like to take the fact of matter on merit, as it is.
So that we Indians can live in India peacefully and affordably, with some hope for future.
