but i’ve seen these cards long ago…

Weird mate never saw a 6600 with a SLI connector before. Its was only for the 6600GT afaik.

yeah i know!!..but the albatron card in this review does have golden fingers…dunno how?

nice to read this.. now all i want is a good setup to test it on :face_with_tongue:

SLI just don’t worth it, specially this one, you spend around $60 more for a SLI Mobo…another $60 for a better power supply, as normal PSU can’t take SLI…$240 for 2 6600…adding upto $360, and what you get, a card which is slower than a 6800gt costing around the same price, and more often and not, giving u compatibility problems.Similarly the case 6600gt SLI, which even costs more
As for 6800gt/6800 Ultra SLI, true you get earth shattering numbers, but its of no use, as you can play games just as well on a single 6800gt/ultra. You can put the money for the other card in the bank to purchase the next gen card as and when it arrives :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

no M8. $60 for motherboard is good investment.
No need for too fancy PSU for 6600 and 6600GT SLI.
And here in India 2x6600GT is as of now marginally cheaper than really hard to find 6800GT PCI express.
Still single 6800GT in better investment to be honest. This leaves you with an option to add another card in there in future.

couldnt agree with ya more

Actually i dont agree with him now as per his calculations only this comes out to be $360 while with 6800 GT you would have to buy the card $400 plus the mobo $100 plus you do need a good power supply for the card $60 so total $560 > $360…

The $60 investment in SLI mobo is not worth it as i can assure you when there is real need to upgrade your 6800gt, next gen cards like on ATI r520 or nvidia g80 would be already available by then, which would be wgf compliant and also would be have significanct performance gain compared to your old 2x6800gt in SLI, so at that time you really won’t wanna buy another 6800gt.

Note that 6600 SLI which you make for $360 would be much slower than a 6800gt 'cause its 6600gt SLI which compares to 6800gt and considering that 6600 is about 40% slower than 6600gt, your card may be as slow as 80%.6600gt SLI would cost you about $140 more i.e $500.
Also 6800gt can easily run on 400W PSU while for stable operation 6600gt SLI requires atleast 500W PSU

^^ Excellent point, but the SLI setups are for those ppl who wanna upgrade in future. A 6600 GT SLI is a waste, so is a 6600 SLI setup.

i think the SLI thing hasnr really picked up yet… few more months before everyone is using it :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
