Constance is now available on Steam

I had wishlisted this game a long time ago. It’s like a hybrid of Celeste and Hollow Knight, two games I really like. I’ll probably wait for some reviews before getting it, and maybe just wait for the winter sale, but I doubt it’ll go much, or any lower, since it’s so new.

I love Celeste, haven’t played Hollow Knight but it’s on my wishlist. Will check this one out. Did you finish Celeste? I’m about 50% in. Just finished the hotel

Yep, I played it 3-4 years ago. I only completed the main story though, and didn’t go for collecting all strawberries or completing the b-sides as I valued my sanity. Took me about 10 hours. Fun, slightly frustrating at times, but mostly quite enjoyable 10 hours. Would definitely recommend it to people who haven’t played it.

I’d recommend getting it, especially if you’re a fan of metroidvanias. Wait for the winter sale when it’ll be 50% off or so (most probably).

Just checked my play time. I’ve played for 4:46 hrs/mins. Looks like I’ve got a long way to go, especially considering how frequently I die lol

What other games do you like? What are your favorites?

I really like metroidvanias, roguelikes, story-based games (even those walking simulator types at times), platformers, and some open-world games, although I haven’t explored that genre as much as I’d like to.

I’ll name a few that I can remember off the top of my head. There are clear genre overlaps, and I was confused about some, so pardon the weirdness. Here they are, in no particular order:

Metroidvanias (ish? Some of these don’t fall neatly into this genre)

Ori and the Blind Forest
Ori and the Will of the Wisps
Hollow Knight
Tunic
Death’s Door
Steamworld Dig 1
Steamworld Dig 2

Roguelikes/Roguelites

Hades
Hades II
Slay the Spire
Balatro
Cult of the Lamb
Dicey Dungeons
Enter the Gungeon
Moonlighter

Sports

Rocket League
Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland
Tony Hawk’s Underground 2
Smackdown HCTP and SvR Series - At one point in time, at least. I always loved the arcade aspect, and wasn’t fond of the transition towards simulation.

Played the above mentioned Tony Hawk’s games online a looooot. We had a fun community that involved us pushing the boundaries of these games, but it got smaller with time, people left for other games, and eventually, I stopped playing as well. Really awesome memories though.

Platformers

Portal
Portal 2
A Hat in Time
Celeste
Broforce

Action Adventure/Open-world/RPG

Sleeping Dogs
Yakuza: Like a Dragon
Genshin Impact (Played until I ran out of new content, then ditched it. Twice.)
Bulletstorm
Time Splitters: Future Perfect (PS2)
Assassin’s Creed II
DmC: Devil May Cry

Story-Rich/Casual/Exploration/Cozy

Life is Strange 1
Life is Strange: Before the Storm
Night in the Woods
Firewatch
Dave the Diver
Stardew Valley
Road 96 (Left it unfinished. Will hopefully pick it back up.)
To the Moon
Outer Wilds

Strategy/Turn-Based

Impossible Creatures
Steamworld Heist
Party Hard

Racing (Don’t play these anymore either)

The Crew 2 (for cruising around and chilling)
Blur
Dirt Showdown

The latter 2 were really fun in local co-op

Yeah, that’s all I remember now. I’m definitely missing a few.

That’s a lot of favorites :stuck_out_tongue: I haven’t played most of these but I guess I know now which ones I need to play

Firewatch is such a beautiful game. Really loved it even though I didn’t think it’d be my type of game. Been looking forward to In The Valley of the Gods by the same studio, though it seems that’s stalled since the Valve buyout.

Celeste I also completed only the main story. Hollow Knight I keep giving up because it gets too difficult at stages and then when I come back I find I don’t remember anything so have to start all over again.

The game might get bigger than GTA6 ATP! It’s 140 GB for PS5, maybe more for PC, never checked.:joy: It’s been 4+ years, and they have still not reunited them.

Broo I’m playing Dead Cells and I am hooked. I never expected to, the premise of dying and starting all over again sounded depressing to me. In fact, when I first died I almost quit the game, but I gave it another shot for some unknown reason, and a few runs later, I love it!

The meta-progression, that is the overall progression that you make with each run is a good thing, so it’s not really like you’re starting from zero every time you die. So much replayability, variety, and fun.

You mentioned roguelikes but I don’t see Dead Cells in your list, have you played it? After I get enough of this (don’t know when that’ll be though lol), I’m going to check out the games that you mentioned

There are loads of roguelikes now, i haven’t played that many and bounced off dead cells but Nuclear throne and FTL are exceptional once a decade games for me.

Nuclear throne never ever gets boring even at 1000+ hours and even without mods, just the base game itself. I can pick it up anyday and have fun - simple but perfect gameplay. Can be addictive a bit. I have never seen a game of its type ( top down shooter roguelike) approach its greatness.

FTL too, plus has some great mods. And Into the breach from same dev.

And same with FTL, FTL inspired games dont seem to be anywhere as good, although there is a mod ‘Multiverse’ which is basically FTL2. Breach is somewhat similar to FTL but with very different gameplay.

All three are old games now so very cheap on sales. NT is on sale right now, and was given away free too i think ( not sure ).

I play mostly RPGs and single player games sometimes fps also.

I play entire series starting from the 1st game to last or latest.

I really wanted to play Witcher 1 since I played it long back but could not play now as the controls are wacky and I forgot how played it then.

Thanks! Nuclear Throne looks a lot like Enter the Gungeon, which I didn’t like as much as Dead Cells, mostly because my aim is ass, lol. I wonder how FTL is fun… No fast action gameplay, just some ship upgrade stuff, hmmm… Next rougelike I try will be this one. I’d love to go in expecting nothing but be pleasantly surprised, just like when I played Dead Cells.

I have to try Gungeon. Nuclear throne is pretty tough and does need decent aiming and movement. Its sort of like a fps but 2d and top down. Its the only single player game that i never get bored of. I found this game after playing hotline miami and i eventually ‘got’ the top down fast gameplay and wanted more of its type.

FTL doesnt need aiming. Its realtime pause sort of a strategy game set in space with its own world building. It is tough atleast for initial few hundred hours until you figure it out. Each of its difficulty level is pretty tough until you are ready for the next one. One of the best bossfights in a game for me and i usually dont like bossfights. Once you get bored after maybe 500-1k hours then there are mods which bring back the fun due to gameplay tweaks and new events.

Anyway, i have bounced off a few roguelikes too - Dead cells and Isaac for example. But i did not give them enough time, so will try in future again when i feel like it. Have to play spire too. Loads of games left.
