This might be a little funny (what it’s doing to the US tech and market) but it is also very sad that India is nowhere even in the conversation in this sector. Our oligarchs will simply buy them off the shelves once the Chinese perfect saleable models, and then rebrand them. All our best brains must be chasing green cards in silicon valley and working for the US response to this.
It seems social media is running with the side project theme a bit too much because it is primarily a quant fund. However, you don’t spend millions and put the best minds in the AI space that your firm has on a “side project”.
Perplexity got it finally, and now it’s hosted in house. I wondered why were they so late with this AI. Its Chinese origin might have delayed it.
It seems, perplexity has removed daily limits for o1 too. Need to check, though.
Because india is brain drained country… All our geniuses were already bought by other nations and their companies… We only left with less talented people and also not only that, our education system only good for mass producing low wage data entry workers

sure… but we should stop being proud of a single thing and every other field we are way way behind… while china is developing mini sun, excelling in ai, etc we are only sending rocket made out of junk scraps…

I have heard that it’s because of collective nationalism. Sometimes I just wonder what if all the Indian top talent stayed here and contributed to developing awesome techs and companies. I’m not blaming anyone but given the current circumstances, I would also leave the country for better opportunities if given a chance.
