Dilemma to use old components or build entirely new setup for parents

I’ve got an old setup with the following specs:

  • Motherboard: Intel DH55TC

  • CPU: Intel i3-530

  • GPU: EVGA GTX 970 SSC

  • PSU: Seasonic SII 620W

  • RAM: Only 1 working slot (1 / 4 slots)(4GB currently)

  • Storage: 2 SATA SSDs

  • Issue: The cabinet gives a mild electric shock when touched

This PC is mainly used by my parents for MS Office, web browsing, and music playback — nothing heavy. Given the issues (especially the RAM slot problem and cabinet shock), I’m wondering if it’s better to buy a new setup altogether or if I can reuse some of these components (like PSU, GPU, SSDs, etc.) in a new build.

My budget is < 15k TIA!

Reuse these.

Replace the rest with newer hardware.

A newer , more reliable and stable system is a no brainer considering the older problematic hardware that may be closer to EOL.

For the cabinet shocking you , You either have a short somewhere or it’s an earthing issue

Even something like an early Ryzen Proc + MoBo +RAM combo should be a viable replacement.

Yea , I have recently purchased lg monitor as well - so am sorted there.

Need suggestion for board + processor + cabinet , hopefully under 10k if possible else will extend till 15k..
