How to post resizeable gifs
Just like we upload images through here.
![]()
You can also upload gifs, that are stored locally on your drive. You can also do CTRL-C and CTRL-V to paste them directly from the clipboard.
And just like we can resize our images, you can also resize your gifs. Through here.
If these preset sizes are not what you are looking for, you can manually edit the size in the markdown of your uploaded gif.

specifiy the custom size.

rather than changing the resolution, just change the percentage value, it will maintain the original aspect ratio of the GIF.
All this is fine but what about directly linking the gifs, by pasting the URL?
You can direclty copy the link of the gif from famous websites like https://giphy.com/
Then doing CTRL-V in post composer will make them appear, but you will lose the ability to resize the gifs, that we normally get by manually uploading the gif.
But downloading every gif locally first for resize functionality before posting is too much work, specially if we want our gifs to be consize and look nice and not take huge amount of space in post.
Solution
We take the help of HTML functionality little bit, that the discourse offers us.
Using the below template you will be able directly link the gifs and also resize them right in the editor.
<img width="200"
src="Your gif link here" />
For example
<img width=200 src=https://media3.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lkPTc5MGI3NjExZTUzaDhzcjNhNWY1YzNzeXBicXM0ZHoxaTFlbzAyY2UyOWQ0bGEwayZlcD12MV9pbnRlcm5hbF9naWZfYnlfaWQmY3Q9Zw/xUPGGDNsLvqsBOhuU0/giphy.gif>
That will insert the following gif.

You can tweak the width parameter to adjust the size. No matter where you link your gifs from, if the width parameter value is the same, they all will be the same size in width, maintaining symmetry and not looking disproportionate.
Edit - As I later found out that directly dragging and droping the gif from another webpage also works, and turns out to be the quickest way. It gives us resize options, 50%, 75%, 100%.
But this percentage based scaling works on the original resolution of the GIF, if you use 50% option, this will not always resize the gifs to the same size as their original resolution might be different.
The only advantage of the HTML method is that it guarantees that all gifs will be of the same width no matter the source resolution.
In the rich text editor mode, you can simply resize the images by tapping on the image and the zoom icons on the top left corner of the image.
I’m sorry if this was explained here already but is there a way to change the text color right now in markdown mode/rich text mode?
There isn’t a way to change text color in either Markdown or rich text mode.
If there is, then I am not aware of any current workaround that works.
I suspect discourse doesn’t support this by default, due to different themes, your text color might not pop out/visible to others depending on whether they are using a light or dark mode. Consistency issues.
Hopefully, this is something that could be added in the future but I am not sure what would be the right implementation.
Could someone please let me know how I can add feedback for a sale I participated in? Or rating, as it’s called now.
I did comment on the sale thread as well, but I’m not seeing any button for the same..

Under the first post do you see this button?
Thank you!
I didn’t check under first post, I see it now.
How can I access messages?
I’m only able to access the latest message from a user from the notification but not able to find any other message thread with a different user.
What happens when you click here?
This can also be accessed from here.
Sent you a message, so you can test.
Thank you!
I just couldn’t/didn’t see that little mailbox icon in the night. I can swear it.
Can someone tell me what happened to my necessities I fulfilled to become eligible to do shopping? I mean I did everything consistently to attain marketplace privileges, and now I don’t find anything on my account.
It looks nothing. All the requirements that appeared in green till today morning doesn’t exist anymore. Assuming I have privileges, but I can’t reply to the classified listings. There is no option to reply over there.
What happened to the market place?, and my Member badge?.
It takes 24 hrs after you satisfy the market requirements for discourse to grant you those privileges.
Update my Trust Level status, if I’m eligible.
It should happen automatically.

Not sure if you already know this, but I thought I’d reply either way as I discovered it recently myself and seemed useful.
Go to any section you want to be notified about, like the marketplace, and on the top right, next to the ‘New Topic’ button, there is a bell icon. Click on it and you can choose to be notified whenever there is a new post in that section. This helps in tracking deals or sales.
